You said,‘ I am forever— the eternal queen!’ But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen.

You said,‘ I am queen forever!’ But you did not think about what you were doing. You did not consider how things might turn out.

You said,‘ I will reign forever as queen of the world!’ You did not reflect on your actions or think about their consequences.

You said,‘ I will be the queen forever.’ You did not take these things to heart or think about their outcome.

Yet you said,‘ I will be a queen forever.’ These things you did not consider Nor remember the outcome of them.

And you said,‘ I shall be a lady forever,’ So that you did not take these things to heart, Nor remember the latter end of them.

And thou saidst, I shall be mistress for ever; so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end thereof.

You said,‘ I will be the mistress forever.’ You did not take these things to heart or think about their outcome.

And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever:[ so] that thou didst not lay these[ things] to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

You said,‘ I will rule forever as permanent queen!’ You did not think about these things; you did not consider how it would turn out.

You said,‘ I will be a princess forever,’ so that you didn’t lay these things to your heart, nor did you remember the results.

If they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern their latter end!

Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; for you shall no more be called the mistress of kingdoms.

the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?

“ Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors,remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,

O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father kingship and greatness and glory and majesty.And because of the greatness that he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whom he would, he killed, and whom he would, he kept alive; whom he would, he raised up, and whom he would, he humbled.But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was brought down from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him.He was driven from among the children of mankind, and his mind was made like that of a beast, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, until he knew that the Most High God rules the kingdom of mankind and sets over it whom he will.And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this,but you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored.

At the end of twelve months he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,

Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations.And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity, but I will punish you for your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the Lord.“ Thus says the Lord God: Disaster after disaster! Behold, it comes.An end has come; the end has come; it has awakened against you. Behold, it comes.Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. The time has come; the day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting on the mountains.Now I will soon pour out my wrath upon you, and spend my anger against you, and judge you according to your ways, and I will punish you for all your abominations.And my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways, while your abominations are in your midst. Then you will know that I am the Lord, who strikes.
