那女人身穿紫色和深红色的衣服，以金子、宝石和珍珠为装饰。她手里拿着金杯，杯中盛满了可憎之物和她淫乱的污秽。在她的额上写着一个奥秘的名号：“大巴比伦，地上的淫妇们和可憎之物的母亲。”随后，我看见那女人喝醉了圣徒们的血，以及为耶稣做见证之人的血。我看到她就大大惊奇。

丧子和寡居这两件事必在一日之内突然临到你！你的法术再多，符咒再有威力，这两件事也必全然临到你！你依靠自己的恶行，说：‘没有人看见我。’你的智慧和知识把你引入歧途，你心里就说：‘只有我，除我以外再没有别的！’

这不法之人的到来，是出于撒旦的作为，对那些正在灭亡的人，使用一切能力、虚假的神迹和奇事，并且使用一切不义的诡计，因为他们不接受那能使他们得救的真理之爱。为此，神就把一种迷惑人的力量送进他们里面，使他们相信虚假之事，好使所有不相信真理而喜悦不义的人，都被定罪。
