集列邦、會萬民、其中孰能言此、而示我以往事、當攜證者、以徵其言、使人聞之曰、誠是也、

耶和華又曰、我之選民、為我臣僕、可為證、灼知予、篤信予、以我為上帝、在我之先、在我之後、無他上帝。

All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Which of their gods foretold this and proclaimed to us the former things? Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right, so that others may hear and say,“ It is true.”

耶和華對偶像說：「陳明你們的理由。」雅各的王說：「拿出你們的證據吧。」告訴我們將要發生的事，給我們說說以前發生的事，我們好思想，以便明白事情的結局。向我們宣告將來的事，告訴我們以後會發生什麼，好叫我們知道你們是神明。不論降福降禍，顯顯身手吧，好叫我們一同驚懼！看啊，你們實在算不得什麼，你們所做的毫無意義，拜你們的人真是可憎！「我使一人從北方興起，他來了，他在東方求告我的名。他必把掌權者像灰泥一樣踏在腳下，像窯匠踩泥一樣踐踏。誰從太初就宣告這事，讓我們知道呢？誰預先講明這事，讓我們說他能未卜先知呢？誰也沒有說過，誰也沒有預言過，誰也沒有聽見你們說過什麼。

你可以提醒我，你我可以理論，你可以提出理由證明自己的清白。

上帝說：「眾海島啊，要在我面前安靜！讓眾民重新拿出勇力，讓他們前來說話，讓我們一起來理論。

誰能與我相比？讓他告訴我。自從我設立這古老的民族以來所發生的事和將要發生的事，讓他告訴我。不要恐懼，不要害怕，我不是早已告訴過你們嗎？你們是我的證人。除我以外還有真神嗎？沒有，沒有別的磐石，一個也沒有。』」製造偶像的真是無用，他們珍愛的偶像毫無價值。拜神像的人目盲眼瞎，愚昧無知，自找羞辱。

從日出之地到日落之處，大能的上帝耶和華召喚世人。

所以，在很久以前，事情還沒有發生時就向你預言這些事，免得你說這些是你的偶像做的，是你雕刻和鑄造的偶像命定的。「你已經聽見了，看看這一切，難道你還不承認嗎？現在我要把新事，把你不知道的隱秘事告訴你。

以利亞走到眾人面前說：「你們三心二意要到什麼時候呢？如果耶和華是上帝，你們當跟從祂；如果巴力是上帝，你們就跟從他吧！」他們都默不作聲。以利亞繼續對眾人說：「耶和華的先知現在只剩下我一人，巴力的先知卻有四百五十人。請給我們牽兩頭公牛來，巴力的先知可以選一頭，切成塊放在柴上，但不要點火；我會把另一頭公牛預備好，放在柴上，也不點火。然後，你們求告你們神明的名字，我求告耶和華，那聽禱告降下火來的就是上帝。」眾人非常贊同他的主意。

四圍的列國啊，你們快快聚集到那裡吧！」耶和華啊，求你差遣大能的勇士降臨。

萬民啊，你們要聽！世人啊，不論貴賤貧富，都要留心聽！

如果你們不願意事奉耶和華，今天就選擇你們的神明吧，或大河那邊你們祖先事奉的神明，或你們這裡亞摩利人的神明。至於我和我全家，我們必事奉耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們決不背棄耶和華去事奉別的神明，因為我們的上帝耶和華曾領我們和我們的祖先脫離埃及人的奴役，在我們眼前行大神蹟，一路保護我們安然經過列邦。耶和華把這地方的亞摩利人等外族人從我們面前趕走了，我們必事奉祂，因為祂是我們的上帝。」約書亞說：「你們不能事奉耶和華，祂是一位聖潔的上帝，祂痛恨不貞，必不赦免你們的過犯和罪惡。如果你們背棄耶和華，去拜外族的神明，儘管祂曾經恩待你們，也必降禍給你們，毀滅你們。」民眾答道：「不，我們一定要事奉耶和華。」約書亞說：「現在你們自己作證，你們已選擇事奉耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們願意自己作證。」約書亞說：「這樣，你們現在就要摒棄你們中間的外族神明，專心歸向以色列的上帝耶和華。」民眾答道：「我們必事奉我們的上帝耶和華，聽從祂的話。」

到了獻晚祭的時候，以利亞先知走到壇前禱告：「亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和華啊，求你今天讓這些人知道你是以色列的上帝，我是你的僕人，我是按你的命令做這一切事。耶和華啊，求你應允我，應允我，好讓眾人知道你耶和華是上帝，你要使他們回心轉意。」於是，耶和華降火燒盡了祭物、木柴、石頭、塵土，甚至溝裡的水。眾人看見這情景，都俯伏在地高呼：「耶和華是上帝！耶和華是上帝！」

「你們一起來聽吧。假神中有誰曾預言過這些事？耶和華所揀選的人必成就祂的旨意，他的臂膀必攻擊迦勒底人。

「列國的流亡者啊，你們要聚集到這裡來。那些抬著木頭神像、向不能救人的神明禱告的人真愚昧！你們要彼此商議，陳明你們的理由。誰早已預言過今天發生的事？誰很久以前就說過這些預言？難道不是我耶和華嗎？除我以外別無他神。我是公義的上帝，我是救主，除我以外別無他神。

我從太初就預言末後的事，從亙古就宣佈將來的事。我的旨意必成就，我的計劃必實現。
