The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

万民的习俗是虚空的；偶像不过是从树林中砍来的木头，是匠人用斧头做成的手工。人用金银妆饰它，用钉子和锤子钉稳，使它不动摇。偶像好像瓜田里的稻草人，不能说话，不能行走，必须有人抬着。不要怕它们，因它们不能降祸，也无力降福。”

他们从钱囊中倒出金子，用天平秤出银子，雇银匠造成神像，他们又俯伏，又叩拜。他们抬起神像，扛在肩上，安置在定处，使它站立，不离本位；人呼求它，它却不回答，也无法救人脱离灾难。

米迦说：“你们把我所造的神像，还有祭司，都带走了，我还有什么呢？你怎么还对我说‘你在做什么’呢？”

铁匠用工具在火炭上工作，用锤打出形状，用他有力的膀臂来锤。他因饥饿而无力气；因未喝水而疲倦。木匠拉线，用笔划出样子，用刨子刨成形状，又用圆规划了模样。他仿照人的体态，做出美妙的人形，放在庙里。他砍伐香柏树，又取杉树和橡树，在树林中让它茁壮；或栽种松树，得雨水滋润长大。这树，人可用以生火；他拿一些来取暖，又搧火烤饼，而且做神像供跪拜，做雕刻的偶像向它叩拜。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一个金像，高六十肘，宽六肘，立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原。尼布甲尼撒王差人将总督、钦差、省长、参谋、财务、法官、地方官和各省的官员都召了来，为尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行开光礼。于是总督、钦差、省长、参谋、财务、法官、地方官和各省的官员都聚集，站在尼布甲尼撒所立的像前，要为尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行开光礼。那时传令的大声呼叫说：“各方、各国、各族的人哪，有命令传给你们：你们一听见角、号、琴、瑟、三角琴、鼓和各样乐器的声音，就当俯伏，拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。凡不俯伏下拜的，必立刻扔在烈火的窑中。”因此百姓一听见角、号、琴、瑟、三角琴和各样乐器的声音，各方、各国、各族的人就都俯伏，拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。
