The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman encourages the metalworker; the one who flattens with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good.” He fastens it with nails so that it will not fall over.

So the craftsman encourages the smelter, And he who smooths metal with the hammer encourages him who beats the anvil, Saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; And he fastens it with nails, So that it will not totter.

鑄像麼，是匠人鑄造，銀匠用金子錘包它，煉鑄銀模來。那豫備鑄造偶像的揀選不能朽壞的樹木，尋找巧匠，立起不能搖動的鑄像來。

去偵探地的那五個人就上去，進去那裏，將雕像、神諭像、家神像、鑄像、都拿了去；祭司和裝有戰器的六百人都站在大門口。那五個人進了米迦的住宅，將雕像、神諭像、家神像、和鑄像都拿了走，祭司就問他們說：『你們作甚麼？』

其妝飾有從他施帶來的銀子錘成片，也有從烏法來的金子，都是匠人的作品，銀匠的手藝；其服裝是藍紫色、紫紅色料，都是巧匠的作品。

因為萬族之民的規例都是虛空：因為偶像不過是一棵樹、人從樹林中砍下來，匠人的手用斧子製成的作品。人用金銀妝飾它，用釘子和錘子釘穩它，使它不動搖。它們好像瓜田裏的稻草人，不能說話，必須被扛着，因為不能跨步走。你們不要怕它們；它們不能降禍，也無力降福。』

那從錢袋中浪費金子，用天秤平銀子的人雇銀匠造神像，自己竟去叩拜，去拜敬！他們將神像抬起，扛在肩頭上，安置在定處，它就站在那裏，總不離開其位置；就使有人向它哀叫，它也不能應，不能救人脫離患難。

米迦說：『你們將我所造的神像和那祭司都帶了去，我還有甚麼呢？你們怎麼還問我說作甚麼呢？』

鐵匠雕造了偶像，在火炭中加工，用鎚子製造它、用他大力的膀臂給它加工，他竟饑餓而沒有力量，他沒有喝水而困倦疲乏。木匠拉線，用筆畫出樣子，用鉋子鉋平它，用彎尺畫出樣子，作成人的模形，有人類的俊美，好住在廟中。他自己砍伐香柏樹，又是選取冬青檞或橡樹，讓它在樹林中茁壯起來，或是栽種樅樹，讓雨水使它長大。這樹人可用作燃料，可以拿些來烤火取暖，也可以燒着烤餅，竟可以造神像去敬拜，作雕像去叩拜！

尼布甲尼撒王造了一座金像，高六十肘，寬六肘；立在巴比倫省杜拉平原上。尼布甲尼撒王差遣人將總督、欽差、巡撫、參謀、財務、司法、審判官、和各省官員、都召集了來，來赴尼布甲尼撒王所立的像的開光禮。於是總督、欽差、巡撫、參謀、財務、司法、審判官、和各省官員、都聚集了來，要為尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行開光禮；大家都站在尼布甲尼撒王所立的像前面。那時傳令官使勁地喊着說：『各族之民、列國之民、各種方言的人哪，現在有命令傳與你們：你們一聽見號角、簫笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、風笛、和各樣樂器的聲音，就當俯伏、向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜；凡不俯伏下拜的、就必須即刻被扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中。』因此到時候各族之民一聽見號角、簫笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、和各樣樂器的聲音，各族之民、列國之民、各種方言的人就都俯伏、向尼布甲尼撒王所立的像下拜。
