The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

偶像是匠人鑄造，銀匠用金包裹，為它鑄造銀鍊。窮乏獻不起這樣供物的，就揀選不能朽壞的樹木，為自己尋找巧匠，立起不能搖動的偶像。

有銀子打成片，是從他施帶來的，並有從烏法來的金子，都是匠人和銀匠的手工，又有藍色紫色料的衣服，都是巧匠的工作。

眾民的風俗是虛空的；他們在樹林中用斧子砍伐一棵樹，匠人用手工造成偶像。他們用金銀妝飾它，用釘子和錘子釘穩，使它不動搖。它好像棕樹，是鏇成的，不能說話，不能行走，必須有人擡着。你們不要怕它；它不能降禍，也無力降福。

那從囊中抓金子，用天平平銀子的人，雇銀匠製造神像，他們又俯伏，又叩拜。他們將神像擡起，扛在肩上，安置在定處，它就站立，不離本位；人呼求它，它不能答應，也不能救人脫離患難。

米迦說：「你們將我所做的神像和祭司都帶了去，我還有所剩的嗎？怎麼還問我說『做甚麼』呢？」

鐵匠把鐵在火炭中燒熱，用鎚打鐵器，用他有力的膀臂錘成；他飢餓而無力，不喝水而發倦。木匠拉線，用筆劃出樣子，用鉋子鉋成形狀，用圓尺劃了模樣，仿照人的體態，做成人形，好住在房屋中。他砍伐香柏樹，又取柞樹和橡樹，在樹林中選定了一棵。他栽種松樹，得雨長養。這樹，人可用以燒火；他自己取些烤火，又燒着烤餅，而且做神像跪拜，做雕刻的偶像向它叩拜。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一個金像，高六十肘，寬六肘，立在巴比倫省杜拉平原。尼布甲尼撒王差人將總督、欽差、巡撫、臬司、藩司、謀士、法官，和各省的官員都召了來，為尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行開光之禮。於是總督、欽差、巡撫、臬司、藩司、謀士、法官，和各省的官員都聚集了來，要為尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行開光之禮，就站在尼布甲尼撒所立的像前。那時傳令的大聲呼叫說：「各方、各國、各族的人哪，有令傳與你們：你們一聽見角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、笙，和各樣樂器的聲音，就當俯伏敬拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。凡不俯伏敬拜的，必立時扔在烈火的窰中。」因此各方、各國、各族的人民一聽見角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟，和各樣樂器的聲音，就都俯伏敬拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。
