The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

众民的风俗是虚空的；他们在树林中用斧子砍伐一棵树，匠人用手工造成偶像。他们用金银妆饰它，用钉子和锤子钉稳，使它不动摇。它好像棕树，是旋成的，不能说话，不能行走，必须有人抬着。你们不要怕它；它不能降祸，也无力降福。”

那从囊中抓金子，用天平平银子的人，雇银匠制造神像，他们又俯伏，又叩拜。他们将神像抬起，扛在肩上，安置在定处，它就站立，不离本位；人呼求它，它不能答应，也不能救人脱离患难。

米迦说：“你们将我所做的神像和祭司都带了去，我还有所剩的吗？怎么还问我说‘做什么’呢？”

铁匠把铁在火炭中烧热，用锤打铁器，用他有力的膀臂锤成；他饥饿而无力，不喝水而发倦。木匠拉线，用笔划出样子，用刨子刨成形状，用圆尺划了模样，仿照人的体态，做成人形，好住在房屋中。他砍伐香柏树，又取柞树和橡树，在树林中选定了一棵。他栽种松树，得雨长养。这树，人可用以烧火；他自己取些烤火，又烧着烤饼，而且做神像跪拜，做雕刻的偶像向它叩拜。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一个金像，高六十肘，宽六肘，立在巴比伦省杜拉平原。尼布甲尼撒王差人将总督、钦差、巡抚、臬司、藩司、谋士、法官，和各省的官员都召了来，为尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行开光之礼。于是总督、钦差、巡抚、臬司、藩司、谋士、法官，和各省的官员都聚集了来，要为尼布甲尼撒王所立的像行开光之礼，就站在尼布甲尼撒所立的像前。那时传令的大声呼叫说：“各方、各国、各族的人哪，有令传与你们：你们一听见角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、笙，和各样乐器的声音，就当俯伏敬拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。凡不俯伏敬拜的，必立时扔在烈火的窑中。”因此各方、各国、各族的人民一听见角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟，和各样乐器的声音，就都俯伏敬拜尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像。
