The oppressed and the poor look for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched from thirst. I, the LORD, will respond to their prayers; I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.

“ The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

For people will live in Zion; in Jerusalem you will weep no more. When he hears your cry of despair, he will indeed show you mercy; when he hears it, he will respond to you.

“ Hey, all who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come! Buy and eat! Come! Buy wine and milk without money and without cost!

“ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

I will lead the blind along an unfamiliar way; I will guide them down paths they have never traveled. I will turn the darkness in front of them into light, and level out the rough ground. This is what I will do for them. I will not abandon them.

The spirit of the sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives, and the freeing of prisoners,

On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out,“ If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, andlet the one who believes in me drink. Just as the scripture says,‘ From within him will flow rivers of living water.’”( Now he said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

O God, you cause abundant showers to fall on your chosen people. When they are tired, you sustain them,for you live among them. You sustain the oppressed with your good blessings, O God.

But the people were very thirsty there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said,“ Why in the world did you bring us up out of Egypt– to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”

Pray to me when you are in trouble! I will deliver you, and you will honor me!”

I am with you! I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!”

O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.Yes, in the sanctuary I have seen you, and witnessed your power and splendor.

He was very thirsty, so he cried out to the LORD and said,“ You have given your servant this great victory. But now must I die of thirst and fall into hands of the Philistines?”So God split open the basin at Lehi and water flowed out from it. When he took a drink, his strength was restored and he revived. For this reason he named the spring En Hakkore. It remains in Lehi to this very day.

when the LORD rebuilds Zion, and reveals his splendor,when he responds to the prayer of the destitute, and does not reject their request.

The wild animals of the desert honor me, the jackals and ostriches, because I put water in the desert and streams in the wilderness, to quench the thirst of my chosen people,

Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said,“ I will never leave you and I will never abandon you.”So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

Jesus answered her,“ If you had known the gift of God and who it is who said to you,‘ Give me some water to drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”“ Sir,” the woman said to him,“ you have no bucket and the well is deep; where then do you get this living water?Surely you’re not greater than our ancestor Jacob, are you? For he gave us this well and drank from it himself, along with his sons and his livestock.”Jesus replied,“ Everyone who drinks some of this water will be thirsty again.But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”The woman said to him,“ Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

They were hungry and thirsty; they fainted from exhaustion.They cried out to the LORD in their distress; he delivered them from their troubles.

This oppressed man cried out and the LORD heard; he saved him from all his troubles.

For I will pour water on the parched ground and cause streams to flow on the dry land. I will pour my spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your children.

And the Spirit and the bride say,“ Come!” And let the one who hears say:“ Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wants it take the water of life free of charge.

So he called out,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in this fire.’

The roof of my mouth is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. You set me in the dust of death.

My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the LORD. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.

The infant’s tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth due to thirst; little children beg for bread, but no one gives them even a morsel.ה( He)

For he will rescue the needy when they cry out for help, and the oppressed who have no defender.He will take pity on the poor and needy; the lives of the needy he will save.

I thirst for God, for the living God. I say,“ When will I be able to go and appear in God’s presence?”

I will be standing before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you will strike the rock, and water will come out of it so that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in plain view of the elders of Israel.

Certainly the LORD does not forsake his people; he does not abandon the nation that belongs to him.

He also said to me,“ It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life.

But he said to me,“ My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me.

Be certain of this, the time is coming,” says the sovereign LORD,“ when I will send a famine through the land– not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation!People will stagger from sea to sea, and from the north around to the east. They will wander about looking for a revelation from the LORD, but they will not find any.In that day your beautiful young women and your young men will faint from thirst.
