Look, I know you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him.

使埃及人知我乃耶和華、昔以色列家賴爾埃及、若恃葦杖、彼執爾手、爾強脫之、致彼肩骨差失、彼親爾、爾突然去之、致彼腰骨閃損。

埃及之眾、人也、非上帝也、所乘之馬、凡馬也、非神馬也、耶和華舉手降罰、輔翼惡人者、皆顛其趾、為惡人所扶持者、咸遭傾覆、淪胥以亡、

迦勒底人圍耶路撒冷、聞法老軍旅、自埃及而至、遂撤圍。耶和華諭耶利米曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、猶大王既遣爾、諮諏於我、爾當告之曰、法老之軍旅、雖來輔翼、終歸埃及、迦勒底人必復至、攻陷斯邑、取而焚之。

厥後蓄異謀、遣使與埃及王瑣通好、歲貢之物不復進納、亞述王知而禁錮之、

耶和華曰、悖逆者流、惟設計謀、不仰望予、灌奠以要約、感予神者、弗順從之、其罪益深、禍將及矣、彼不諮諏我意、乃往埃及、藉法老之勢力、望埃及之庇蔭、爾惟法老之勢力是恃、埃及之庇蔭是賴、則必含羞蒙恥、牧伯至鎖安國、使詣哈匿、見二邑之民無益、弗能助理、則愧恧靡已、牲畜輜重、適彼南方、頻更患難、有牝獅猛獅、又有毒蛇、且能飛騰、所有貨財、載於驢肩、負於駝背、以饋於不能益己之民、埃及之助徒勞、故名之云、大言不慙、無濟於事、

昔瀕海之民、惟埃及是誇、古實是恃、後必蒙羞而懹恐、曰、我素望彼、得救於亞述王、今彼敗亡、我何能免於難哉。
