那些患痲瘋屬之病的來到營盤邊兒，進了一座帳棚，又喫又喝，又從那裏拿起銀子金子和衣服，去私藏着；回來，又進了另一座帳棚，又從那裏拿起東西去私藏着。

但上帝卻揀選了世界上愚拙的，要使有智慧的慚愧；上帝又揀選了世界上軟弱的，要使強壯的慚愧；

『領兵的王逃跑了，逃跑了！』在家裏的美麗婦女分得了掠物。

因為有莊嚴富麗的居所要給予我們，就是有江河溝渠、是兩面寬闊的地方；其中必沒有盪槳搖櫓的船隻來往，也沒有莊嚴富麗的船經過。

擄掠之物必被收拾，像螞蚱之收拾禾稼；人必蹦在其上，像蝗蟲之蹦跳一樣。

有禍啊！你這毁滅人者、而自己倒不被毁滅的！你這行詭詐者、而人倒不以詭詐待你的！你剛停止了毁滅人，你自己就要被毁滅了；你剛行完了詭詐，人就以詭詐待你了。

水手想法子要從船上逃出，便把艇子縋下海裏，假裝要從船頭伸纜拉錨去下的樣子。保羅對百夫長和士兵說：『這些人若不留在船上，你們就不能得救。』於是士兵把艇子的繩索砍掉，由它飄去。

給你盪槳的已經把你帶到水深之處；東風將你打破於海中心。當你覆沒的日子，你的資財貨物和商品、你的水手和掌舵、你那修補破縫的和經營交易的，你所有的戰士、那在你中間的、連同你全體的眾人、那在你中間的——必都墜落於海中心。一聽到你的掌舵者的哀呼聲，郊野都必震動。一切盪槳的、水手和海上一切掌舵的、都必離開他們的船隻，站在陸地上。他們必為你而放聲，而痛哭，把塵土撒在頭上，在灰塵中打滾；為你而使頭上光禿，用麻布束腰，為你而傷心哭泣，傷痛痛地苦苦號咷。他們哀號時、為你舉哀唱歌，而哀哭說：「有哪一個城像推羅在海中歸於死寂呢！你的貨物由海上運出，你就使許多外族之民充足；由於你的資財和商品很多，你就使地上的君王富裕。如今你在深水中被海浪打破了；你的商品和你全體的眾人、在你中間的、都沉落下去了。

第三天便親手把船上的用具也拋棄了。

跟大衛同行的人中間所有的壞人和無賴應時地說：『這些人既然沒有跟我們同行，我們所奪回的掠物就不分給他們；只將他們各人的妻子兒女給他們，讓他們帶走就是了。』大衛說：『弟兄們，永恆主所賜給我們的、你們不可這樣處理；他怎樣保守我們，將那來攻擊我們的匪幫交在我們手裏。這事誰肯依從你們呢？下戰場的分多少，留守物件的也分多少：大家要一樣分。』
