Woe, you destroyer never destroyed, you traitor never betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished betraying, they will betray you.

祸哉！你这毁灭人的，自己倒不被毁灭；行事诡诈的，人倒不以诡诈待你。你毁灭罢休了，自己必被毁灭；你行完了诡诈，人必以诡诈待你。

祸哉！你这未遭毁灭而毁灭人的人，人未以诡诈待你而你以诡诈待人的人！等你行完了毁灭，自己必被毁灭；你行完了诡诈，人必以诡诈待你。

你们这些毁灭别人、自己还未被毁灭的人有祸了！等你们毁灭完了，就毁灭你们。你们这些欺诈别人、自己还未被欺诈的人有祸了！等你们欺诈完了，就欺诈你们。

你这毁灭人，自己却不被毁灭的；你这行事诡诈，别人倒不以诡诈待你的，有祸了！你刚停止毁灭人的时候，自己就要被毁灭；你刚停止行诡诈的时候，别人就必以诡诈待你。

未被虐而虐人、未被欺而欺人、禍哉其人、爾虐人甫畢、則被虐、爾欺人甫畢、則被欺、

人不虐爾、而爾虐人、人不誣爾、而爾誣人、禍將及矣、爾以誣虐施諸人、則人待爾亦若是、

人未虐爾而爾虐人、人未欺爾而爾欺人、將必受禍、爾虐人方畢、則人必虐爾、爾欺人方畢、則人必欺爾、○

Woe to you, destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, betrayer, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.

How terrible it will be for you, you who destroy others! Assyria, you haven’t been destroyed yet. How terrible for you, you who turn against others! Others haven’t turned against you yet. When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed. When you stop turning against others, others will turn against you.

Ah, you destroyer, who yourself have not been destroyed, you traitor, whom none has betrayed! When you have ceased to destroy, you will be destroyed; and when you have finished betraying, they will betray you.

What sorrow awaits you Assyrians, who have destroyed others but have never been destroyed yourselves. You betray others, but you have never been betrayed. When you are done destroying, you will be destroyed. When you are done betraying, you will be betrayed.

Woe to you, destroyer, While you were not destroyed; And he who is treacherous, while others did not deal treacherously with him. As soon as you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; As soon as you cease to deal treacherously, others will deal treacherously with you.

Woe to you who plunder, though you have not been plundered; And you who deal treacherously, though they have not dealt treacherously with you! When you cease plundering, You will be plundered; When you make an end of dealing treacherously, They will deal treacherously with you.

Woe to thee that destroyest, and thou wast not destroyed; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! When thou hast ceased to destroy, thou shalt be destroyed; and when thou hast made an end of dealing treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou[ wast] not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled;[ and] when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

The destroyer is as good as dead, you who have not been destroyed! The deceitful one is as good as dead, the one whom others have not deceived! When you are through destroying, you will be destroyed; when you finish deceiving, others will deceive you!

Woe to you who destroy, but you weren’t destroyed, and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have finished betrayal, you will be betrayed.

For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use.

A troubling vision is declared to me:“ The treacherous one acts treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Advance, Elam! Lay siege, you Medes! I will put an end to all the groaning.”

From the ends of the earth we hear songs: The Splendor of the Righteous One. But I said,“ I waste away! I waste away! Woe is me.” The treacherous act treacherously; the treacherous deal very treacherously.

But when the Lord finishes all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say,“ I will punish the king of Assyria for his arrogant acts and the proud look in his eyes.”

In the evening— sudden terror! Before morning— it is gone! This is the fate of those who plunder us and the lot of those who ravage us.

When the seventy years are completed, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation’— this is the LORD’s declaration—‘ the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, and I will make it a ruin forever.I will bring on that land all my words I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book that Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations.For many nations and great kings will enslave them, and I will repay them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.’”

Adoni-bezek said,“ Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table. God has repaid me for what I have done.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

If anyone is to be taken captive, into captivity he goes. If anyone is to be killed with a sword, with a sword he will be killed. This calls for endurance and faithfulness from the saints.

The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they will receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour.These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast.These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those with him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

You will be covered with shame and destroyed forever because of violence done to your brother Jacob.On the day you stood aloof, on the day strangers captured his wealth, while foreigners entered his city gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.Do not gloat over your brother in the day of his calamity; do not rejoice over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction; do not boastfully mock in the day of distress.Do not enter my people’s city gate in the day of their disaster. Yes, you— do not gloat over their misery in the day of their disaster, and do not appropriate their possessions in the day of their disaster.Do not stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, and do not hand over their survivors in the day of distress.For the day of the LORD is near, against all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; what you deserve will return on your own head.As you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. They will drink and gulp down and be as though they had never been.

In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Assyria’s King Sennacherib attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.So King Hezekiah of Judah sent word to the king of Assyria at Lachish:“ I have done wrong; withdraw from me. Whatever you demand from me, I will pay.” The king of Assyria demanded eleven tons of silver and one ton of gold from King Hezekiah of Judah.So Hezekiah gave him all the silver found in the LORD’s temple and in the treasuries of the king’s palace.At that time Hezekiah stripped the gold from the doors of the LORD’s sanctuary and from the doorposts he had overlaid and gave it to the king of Assyria.Then the king of Assyria sent the field marshal, the chief of staff, and his royal spokesman, along with a massive army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced and came to Jerusalem, and they took their position by the aqueduct of the upper pool, by the road to the Launderer’s Field.

Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and left. He returned home and lived in Nineveh.One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. Then his son Esar-haddon became king in his place.

At that time King Ahaz asked the king of Assyria for help.The Edomites came again, attacked Judah, and took captives.The Philistines also raided the cities of the Judean foothills and the Negev of Judah. They captured and occupied Beth-shemesh, Aijalon, and Gederoth, as well as Soco, Timnah, and Gimzo with their surrounding villages.For the LORD humbled Judah because of King Ahaz of Judah, who threw off restraint in Judah and was unfaithful to the LORD.Then King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria came against Ahaz; he oppressed him and did not give him support.Although Ahaz plundered the LORD’s temple and the palace of the king and of the rulers and gave the plunder to the king of Assyria, it did not help him.

Moreover, wine betrays; an arrogant man is never at rest. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and like Death he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to himself; he collects all the peoples for himself.Won’t all of these take up a taunt against him, with mockery and riddles about him? They will say,“ Woe to him who amasses what is not his— how much longer?— and loads himself with goods taken in pledge.”Won’t your creditors suddenly arise, and those who disturb you wake up? Then you will become spoil for them.Since you have plundered many nations, all the peoples who remain will plunder you— because of human bloodshed and violence against lands, cities, and all who live in them.

Because they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, you have given them blood to drink; they deserve it!

Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger— the staff in their hands is my wrath.I will send him against a godless nation; I will command him to go against a people destined for my rage, to take spoils, to plunder, and to trample them down like clay in the streets.

Look, a day belonging to the LORD is coming when the plunder taken from you will be divided in your presence.I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle. The city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations as he fights on a day of battle.

For God has put it into their hearts to carry out his plan by having one purpose and to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled.
