For these are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.

That’s because these people of Judah refuse to obey me. They are children who tell lies. They will not listen to what I want to teach them.

For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the Lord;

that these people are stubborn rebels who refuse to pay attention to the Lord’s instructions.

They are a rebellious people, deceptive children, children who do not want to listen to the LORD’s instruction.

That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;

For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah;

They are a rebellious people, deceptive children, children who do not want to obey the Lord’s instruction.

That this[ is] a rebellious people, lying children, children[ that] will not hear the law of the LORD:

For these are rebellious people– they are lying children, children unwilling to obey the LORD’s law.

For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear Yahweh’s law;

“ Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord,“ Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;

But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and sexually immoral persons, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

She obeyed no voice, She accepted no discipline. She did not trust in the Lord, She did not approach her God.

Then He said,‘ I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be; For they are a perverse generation, Sons in whom there is no faithfulness.

There is oath taking, denial, murder, stealing, and adultery. They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.

For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with wrongdoing; Your lips have spoken deceit, Your tongue mutters wickedness.No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly. They trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive trouble and give birth to disaster.

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your Law. Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances, Which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them. And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.However, You remained patient with them for many years, And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets, Yet they would not listen. Therefore You handed them over to the peoples of the lands.

So the Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention.

But they refused to pay attention, and turned a stubborn shoulder and plugged their ears from hearing.They also made their hearts as hard as a diamond so that they could not hear the Law and the words which the Lord of armies had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the Lord of armies.

Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral persons, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

So you testify against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers.You snakes, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?

One who turns his ear away from listening to the Law, Even his prayer is an abomination.

“ They bend their tongues like their bows; Lies and not truth prevail in the land; For they proceed from evil to evil, And they do not know Me,” declares the Lord.

you, therefore, who teach someone else, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one is not to steal, do you steal?You who say that one is not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you rob temples?You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God?

For He said,“ Certainly they are My people, Sons who will not deal falsely.” So He became their Savior.

Hear the word of the Lord, You rulers of Sodom; Listen to the instruction of our God, You people of Gomorrah!

Yet the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, until there was no remedy.

For I know your rebellion and your stubbornness; behold, as long as I have been alive with you until today, you have been rebellious against the Lord; how much more, then, after my death?Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, that I may speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against them.For I know that after my death you will behave very corruptly and turn from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will confront you in the latter days, because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger with the work of your hands.”

Because you have said,“ We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a pact. The gushing flood will not reach us when it passes by, Because we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.”

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.

Oh, sinful nation, People weighed down with guilt, Offspring of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the Lord, They have despised the Holy One of Israel, They have turned away from Him.

“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ You yourselves have seen all the disaster that I have brought on Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are in ruins and no one lives in them,because of their wickedness which they committed to provoke Me to anger by continuing to burn sacrifices and to serve other gods whom they had not known, neither they, you, nor your fathers.Yet I sent you all My servants the prophets again and again, saying,“ Oh, do not do this abominable thing which I hate.”But they did not listen or incline their ears to turn from their wickedness, so as not to burn sacrifices to other gods.Therefore My wrath and My anger gushed out and burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, so they have become ruins and a desolation as it is this day.Now then, this is what the Lord God of armies, the God of Israel says:“ Why are you doing great harm to yourselves, to eliminate from yourselves man and woman, child and infant from among Judah, leaving yourselves without a remnant,provoking Me to anger with the works of your hands, burning sacrifices to other gods in the land of Egypt where you are entering to reside, so that you may be eliminated and become a curse and a disgrace among all the nations of the earth?Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah and the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?Yet they have not become contrite even to this day, nor have they feared, nor walked in My Law or My statutes, which I placed before you and before your fathers.” ’“ Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Behold, I am going to set My face against you for a disaster, even to eliminate all Judah.And I will take away the remnant of Judah who have set their minds on entering the land of Egypt to reside there, and they will all meet their end in the land of Egypt; they will fall by the sword or meet their end by famine. From the small to the great, they will die by the sword and famine; and they will become a curse, an object of horror, an imprecation, and a disgrace.And I will punish those who live in the land of Egypt, just as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with plague.So there will be no survivor or refugee for the remnant of Judah who have entered the land of Egypt to reside there and then to return to the land of Judah, to which they are longing to return to live; for none will return except a few refugees.’ ”Then all the men who were aware that their wives were burning sacrifices to other gods, along with all the women who were standing by, as a large assembly, including all the people who were living in Pathros in the land of Egypt, responded to Jeremiah, saying,“ As for the message that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we are not going to listen to you!But we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as we ourselves, our forefathers, our kings, and our leaders did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and saw no misfortune.

“ Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.“ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?But did My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said,‘ Just as the Lord of armies planned to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”

And now, because you have done all these things,” declares the Lord,“ and I spoke to you, speaking again and again, but you did not listen, and I called you but you did not answer,
