But do not prophesy at Bethel any longer, for it is a sanctuary of the king and a royal residence.”

For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the people of Anathoth, who are seeking your life, saying:“ Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, so that you do not die by our hand”;

“ But you made the Nazirites drink wine, And you commanded the prophets, saying,‘ You shall not prophesy!’

They keep saying to those who despise Me,‘ The Lord has said,“ You will have peace” ’; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say,‘ Disaster will not come on you.’

Did you not see a false vision and tell a lying divination when you said,‘ The Lord declares,’ but it is not I who have spoken?” ’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Because you have spoken deceit and have seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord God.“ So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, so that you may know that I am the Lord God.It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;

When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.”

who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all people,hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always reach the limit of their sins. But wrath has come upon them fully.

But because I say the truth, you do not believe Me.

But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let’s warn them not to speak any longer to any person in this name.”

So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Then the officials said to the king,“ Please have this man put to death, since he is discouraging the men of war who are left in this city and all the people, by speaking words like these to them; for this man is not seeking the well being of this people, but rather their harm.”

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy anything good regarding me, but only bad. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said,“ May the king not say so.”Then the king of Israel summoned an officer and said,“ Bring Micaiah son of Imlah quickly.”Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting, each on his throne, dressed in their robes, at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed!’ ”All the prophets were prophesying this as well, saying,“ Go up to Ramoth gilead and succeed, for the Lord will hand it over to the king.”Then the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying,“ Behold now, the words of the prophets are unanimously favorable to the king. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.”

“ For from the least of them to the greatest of them, Everyone is greedy for gain, And from the prophet to the priest Everyone deals falsely.They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.

Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa mistreated some of the people at the same time.

Then Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, enemy of mine?” And he answered,“ I have found you, because you have given yourself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, for he never prophesies anything good regarding me, but always bad. Each of them is to return to his house in peace.’ ”Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy anything good regarding me, but only bad?”And Micaiah said,“ Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the angels of heaven standing on His right and on His left.And the Lord said,‘ Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to go up and fall at Ramoth gilead?’ And one spirit said this, while another said that.Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord and said,‘ I will entice him.’ And the Lord said to him,‘ How?’He said,‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ Then He said,‘ You shall entice him, and you will also prevail. Go out and do so.’Now therefore, behold, the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, for the Lord has declared disaster against you.”Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah approached and struck Micaiah on the cheek; and he said,“ How did the Spirit of the Lord pass from me to speak to you?”And Micaiah said,“ Behold, you are going to see how on that day when you go from one inner room to another trying to hide yourself.”Then the king of Israel said,“ Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;and say,‘ This is what the king says:“ Put this man in prison, and feed him enough bread and water to survive until I return safely.” ’ ”But Micaiah said,“ If you actually return safely, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest, Everyone practices deceit.They have healed the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify about it, that its deeds are evil.

and say,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the women who sew magic bands on all wrists and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature to capture souls! Will you capture the souls of My people, but keep the souls of others alive for yourselves?For handfuls of barley and pieces of bread, you have profaned Me to My people, to put to death some who should not die, and to keep others alive who should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies.” ’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am against your magic bands by which you capture souls there as birds, and I will tear them from your arms; and I will let them go, those souls whom you capture as birds.I will also tear off your veils and save My people from your hands, and they will no longer be in your hands as prey; and you will know that I am the Lord.Because you disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him pain, but you have encouraged the wicked not to turn from his wicked way to keep him alive,

Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the officials and to all the people, saying,“ A death sentence for this man! For he has prophesied against this city, just as you have heard with your own ears!”

‘ Do not prophesy,’ so they prophesy. But if they do not prophesy about these things, Insults will not be turned back.

As he was talking with him, the king said to him,“ Have we appointed you to be a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be put to death?” Then the prophet stopped and said,“ I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

So now, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who prophesies to you,

If someone walking after wind and falsehood Had lied and said,‘ I will prophesy to you about wine and liquor,’ He would become a prophet to this people.

How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, these prophets of the deceitfulness of their own heart,who intend to make My people forget My name by their dreams which they report to one another, just as their fathers forgot My name because of Baal?The prophet who has a dream may report his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word truthfully. What does straw have in common with grain?” declares the Lord.“ Is My word not like fire?” declares the Lord,“ and like a hammer which shatters a rock?

The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule on their own authority; And My people love it this way! But what will you do when the end comes?

Yet He sent prophets to them to bring them back to the Lord; and they testified against them, but they would not listen.Then the Spirit of God covered Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada the priest like clothing; and he stood above the people and said to them,“ This is what God has said,‘ Why do you break the commandments of the Lord and do not prosper? Because you have abandoned the Lord, He has also abandoned you.’ ”So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the house of the Lord.

and say,‘ This is what the king says:“ Put this man in prison, and feed him enough bread and water to survive until I return safely.” ’ ”

Indeed, there was also a man who used to prophesy in the name of the Lord, Uriah the son of Shemaiah from Kiriath jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land words similar to all those of Jeremiah.When King Jehoiakim and all his warriors and all the officials heard his words, then the king sought to put him to death; but Uriah heard about it, and he was afraid, so he fled and went to Egypt.Then King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor and certain men with him, to Egypt.And they brought Uriah from Egypt and led him to King Jehoiakim, who killed him with a sword and threw his dead body into the burial place of the common people.
