那时大地摇撼震动，群山的根基也都动摇，它们摇撼，是因为耶和华发怒。浓烟从他的鼻孔往上冒，烈火从他的口中喷出来，连炭也烧着了。他使天下垂，亲自降临；在他的脚下黑云密布。

耶和华说：“因此，你们要等候我，等候我起来指证（按照《马索拉文本》，“指证”作“掳掠”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）的日子，我已经决定集合万邦，召聚列国，把我的盛怒，就是我的一切烈怒，都倾倒在他们身上；因为全地都必被我的妒火吞灭。

因为我们的神是烈火。

那时，这不法的人必要显露出来。主耶稣要用自己口中的气除掉他，以自己再来所显现的光辉消灭他。

他说：“耶和华从西奈而来，从西珥光照他们，从巴兰山射出光辉，在千万圣者中来临，在他的右手有烈火的律法。

因为在我的怒中有火燃烧起来，烧到阴间的深处，把大地和地的出产尽都吞灭，连山的根基也烧着了。

以东的河水都要变成石油，它的尘土必变成硫磺，它的地土要变成烧着的石油，

你们看见了，就心里快乐，你们的骨头必像嫩草一样长起来，耶和华的手必向他的仆人显现，他必向他的仇敌发怒。

因为战士在战争喧嚷中所穿的靴，和辊在血中的袍，都必烧毁，成了烧火的燃料。

众民必像燃烧的石灰，又像被割下的荆棘，在火中焚烧。

耶和华啊！要到几时呢？你要永远怀怒吗？你的愤恨要像火焚烧吗？

所有过路的人啊！你们毫不在意吗？你们要细察要观看，有没有痛苦像我所受的痛苦，就是耶和华在他发烈怒的日子使我所受的痛苦。他从高天降火，使火进入我的骨头里（按照《马索拉文本》，“他从高天降火，使火进入我的骨头里”作“他从高天降火进入我的骨头里，他管理火”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）。他设置网罗绊我的脚，使我退去。他使我孤单凄凉，终日愁烦。

“我一直在观看，看见有些宝座安放好了，万古常存者就坐上去；他的衣服洁白如雪，他的头发纯净像羊毛。他的宝座是火焰，宝座的轮子是烈火。

大山在他面前震动，小山也都融化；大地在他面前废去，世界和所有住在世上的，也都这样。在他盛怒之下，谁能站得住呢？他的烈怒谁能受得了呢？他的忿怒像火一般喷出来，磐石在他面前都崩裂了。

因此，主万军之耶和华必打发令人消瘦的病临到亚述王肥壮的军人中间，在他的荣耀之下必燃起火焰，如同火烧一样。以色列的光必变成火，他的圣者必成为火焰；在一日之间把亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧与吞灭。

这样，人从日落之处必敬畏耶和华的名，从日出之地也必敬畏他的荣耀，因为他必像狭急的河流冲来，耶和华的气必向他催逼。

亚述啊！我怒气的棍子，有祸了。他们手中拿着我忿怒的杖。
