Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think,“ Who sees us? Who will know?”

How terrible it will be for people who try hard to hide their plans from the Lord! They do their work in darkness. They think,“ Who sees us? Who will know?”

Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,“ Who sees us? Who knows us?”

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

Woe to those who go to great lengths to hide their plans from the LORD. They do their works in the dark, and say,“ Who sees us? Who knows us?”

Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say,“ Who sees us?” or“ Who knows us?”

Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say,“ Who sees us?” and,“ Who knows us?”

Woe unto them that hide deep their counsel from Jehovah, and whose works are in the dark, and that say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Woe to those who go to great lengths to hide their plans from the Lord. They do their works in darkness, and say,“ Who sees us? Who knows us?”

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Those who try to hide their plans from the LORD are as good as dead, who do their work in secret and boast,“ Who sees us? Who knows what we’re doing?”

Woe to those who deeply hide their counsel from Yahweh, and whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,“ Who sees us?” and“ Who knows us?”

He said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? They say,‘ The Lord does not see us; the Lord has forsaken the land.’”

“ Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the Lord,“ to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;

You have wearied the Lord with your words.“ How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying,“ All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

You have trusted in your wickedness and have said,‘ No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself,‘ I am, and there is none besides me.’

You boast,“ We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.”

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying:“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

He says to himself,“ God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.”Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless.Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself,“ He won’t call me to account”?

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think,“ Who can hear us?”

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line; hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.

They say,“ How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?”

He answered me,“ The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say,‘ The Lord has forsaken the land; the Lord does not see.’

Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

I will expose your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you.

There is no deep shadow, no utter darkness, where evildoers can hide.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think,‘ The Lord will do nothing, either good or bad.’

Yet you say,‘ What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness?Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.’

Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes,to those who say,“ Let God hurry; let him hasten his work so we may see it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel— let it approach, let it come into view, so we may know it.”

They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say,“ Who will see it?”They plot injustice and say,“ We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.

Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord.“ Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.

They say,“ The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob takes no notice.”Take notice, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?

“ There are those who rebel against the light, who do not know its ways or stay in its paths.When daylight is gone, the murderer rises up, kills the poor and needy, and in the night steals forth like a thief.The eye of the adulterer watches for dusk; he thinks,‘ No eye will see me,’ and he keeps his face concealed.In the dark, thieves break into houses, but by day they shut themselves in; they want nothing to do with the light.For all of them, midnight is their morning; they make friends with the terrors of darkness.
