耶穌說：「西門！西門！撒旦已經要求像篩麥子一樣篩你們，但我已經為你禱告了，叫你不至於失去信心。你回頭以後，要讓你的弟兄剛強。」

耶穌說：「那撒下好種子的就是人子，麥田代表整個世界，那些好種子就是天國的子民。毒麥就是那些屬於魔鬼的人，撒毒麥的仇敵就是魔鬼。收割的日子便是世界的末日，收割的工人就是天使。「毒麥怎樣被拔出來丟在火裡燒，同樣，在世界末日的時候，人子也將派天使把一切引人犯罪和作孽的人從祂國裡挑出來，丟進火裡。那時，他們將在那裡哀哭切齒。那時，義人要在他們天父的國度像太陽一樣發出光輝。有耳朵的，都應當聽。

「因為我要下令在列國中篩以色列家，就像人篩穀物，一粒石子也不會落在地上。

摩西的律法書上說：「牛在踩穀時，不可籠住牠的嘴。」難道上帝關心的只是牛嗎？祂這樣說難道不是為了我們嗎？這話的確是為我們寫的，因為耕耘的和打穀的農夫都應該存著分享收成的盼望勞作。

我實實在在地告訴你們，一粒麥子如果不落在地裡死了，仍是一粒，如果死了，就會結出許多麥粒來。

祂手拿簸箕，要把穀場清理乾淨，將麥子存入倉裡，用不滅的火把糠秕燒盡。」

因為我們是上帝的同工，你們是上帝的園地和建築。

於是，我說：「我的百姓啊！你們像場上被碾、被篩的穀物，現在我把從以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華那裡聽見的都告訴你們了。」
