惊骇四面恐吓他，并且追赶他的脚踪。

我一听见，就全身发抖；因这声音，我嘴唇震颤。腐烂侵蚀我骨，我在站立之地战兢。我静候灾难之日，犯境的民上来。

“人子啊！至于你，你要定出两条路，给巴比伦王的刀前来；这两条路都从同一个地方出来；你要在通往城去的路口上做一个路标。你要定出一条路，使刀临到亚扪的拉巴，又要定出另一条路，使刀临到犹大，攻击坚固城耶路撒冷。因为巴比伦王站在分叉路口，在两条路口上占卜、摇签、求问神像，察看动物的肝。他右手中拿着耶路撒冷的签，要在那里架起攻城锤，下令屠杀，扬声吶喊；架起攻城锤，攻打城门；筑起土垒，建造围城的高墙。在那些曾经向巴比伦起誓效忠的犹大人看来，这是虚假的占卜，但巴比伦王要使他们想起自己的罪孽，把他们掳去。

他们对他说：“希西家这样说：‘今日是急难、责罚和凌辱的日子，就像婴孩快要出生的时候，却没有气力生出来一样。

看哪！他们的勇士在街上呼叫；和平的使者在痛苦哭泣。

耶和华对撒母耳说：“看哪！我要在以色列中行一件事，听见的人，都必耳鸣；

“日月星辰将有异兆；在地上，各国也要因着海洋波涛的咆哮而困苦不安。天上的万象震动，人因为等待即将临到世界的事，都吓昏了。

希西家王在位第十四年，亚述王西拿基立上来攻击犹大所有的设防城，占据了它们。

我但以理精疲力竭，病了几天，后来我起来，办理王的事务，但我仍因这异象惊骇不已，不明白它的意思。

所以，耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘看哪，我要把灾祸降在耶路撒冷和犹大，使听见的人，双耳都要刺痛。

这事到此完毕。我但以理心中十分惊惶，脸色也变了，但我把这事存放在心里。”

你要说：‘犹大列王和耶路撒冷的居民哪！你们要听耶和华的话。万军之耶和华以色列的神这样说：看哪！我必使灾祸临到这地方；凡听见的，都必耳鸣。

于是希勒家的儿子管家以利亚敬、书记舍伯那和亚萨的儿子史官约亚，都撕裂衣服，来到希西家面前，把拉伯沙基的话告诉了他。

主耶和华赐给了我一个受教者的舌头，使我知道怎样用言语扶助疲乏的人；主每天清晨唤醒我，他每天清晨唤醒我的耳朵，使我能像受教者一样静听。

何细亚在位第九年，亚述王占领了撒玛利亚，把以色列人掳到亚述去，安置他们在哈腊，在哈博河和歌散河一带，以及在玛代人的各城。

耶和华差派迦勒底的军队、亚兰的军队、摩押的军队和亚扪人的军队攻打他，他差他们攻击犹大，毁灭它，就像耶和华藉着他的仆人众先知预言的话。

亚述啊！我怒气的棍子，有祸了。他们手中拿着我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻击一个不敬虔的国，吩咐他去攻击我恼怒的子民，掳去掠物，抢夺掳物，把他们践踏，像街上的泥土一样。
