Look at the land of the Babylonians, this people that is now of no account! The Assyrians have made it a place for desert creatures; they raised up their siege towers, they stripped its fortresses bare and turned it into a ruin.

Behold the land of the Chaldeans! This is the people that was not; Assyria destined it for wild beasts. They erected their siege towers, they stripped her palaces bare, they made her a ruin.

Look at the land of Babylonia— the people of that land are gone! The Assyrians have handed Babylon over to the wild animals of the desert. They have built siege ramps against its walls, torn down its palaces, and turned it to a heap of rubble.

我將興起迦勒底人是乃殘酷暴躁之邦、徧行大地、據非己之居所、

巴比倫乃列國中之尊榮、迦勒底人所誇之華美、將若所多瑪蛾摩拉、為上帝所傾覆、

惟其意不如是、其心不思此、乃欲肆行敗壞、翦滅多邦、

其國肇於巴別、以力、亞甲、甲尼、俱在示拿地、由彼往亞述、建尼尼微、利河伯、迦拉、

時、巴比倫王、巴拉但子比羅達巴拉但、聞希西家遘疾、致書饋禮、

言時、又一人至曰、迦勒底人、分為三隊猝至、掠駝、以刃殺僕、惟我獨逃、以告、

亞述王自巴比倫、古他、亞瓦、哈馬、西法瓦音、移人置於撒瑪利亞之邑、以代以色列人、遂據撒瑪利亞、居其諸邑、

主耶和華曰、我將使諸王之王、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、來自北方、率其車馬騎兵、軍旅民眾、以攻推羅、平原屬邑、必滅於刃、建臺築壘、連盾以攻爾、設鎚衝城垣、以斧毀戍樓、因馬之多、塵土蔽邑、敵入邑門、如入城缺、是時、因騎兵戰車運車之行聲、城垣震動、使其馬足躪爾逵衢、以刃戮爾人民、爾之堅柱、必仆於地、刦爾珍寶、奪爾貨財、毀爾城垣、壞爾華屋、木石塵土、俱投水中、我必息爾謳歌之聲、不復聞爾琴瑟之音、使爾成為光潔之磐、曬網之所、不復建之、主耶和華曰、我耶和華言之矣、○主耶和華謂推羅曰、爾傾圮時、傷者呻吟、殺戮行於爾中、諸島聞之、豈不震動乎、海濱君王、將下其位、解其朝服、去其繡衣、遍體戰慄、而坐於地、恐懼不已、為爾驚駭、作哀歌云、有名之邑、鞏建海中、為航海者所居、凡寓彼者、無不懾伏、奚傾圮乎、爾傾圮時、羣島戰慄、海中諸島、見爾滅亡、靡不駭愕、主耶和華曰、我使爾荒蕪、若無居人之邑、使深淵沒爾、大水淹爾、其時、我必使爾與下陰府之人、詣彼古昔之民、居於地之深處、久為荒寂之所、不復有人居於爾中、爾於生人之地、不再獲榮、我必使爾滅沒、永不復振、人雖索爾、而不之見、主耶和華言之矣、

三曰希底結、流於亞述東、四曰伯拉、

哈蘭先其父死於故土、迦勒底之吾珥、

其城名曰巴別、因耶和華在彼淆億兆之言語、散之四方故也、○

遂出迦勒底地、居於哈蘭、其父死後、上帝自彼徙之至此、即爾今所居者、

亞述為我震怒之梃、其手所持、乃我忿恚之杖、

居於野者必跽其前、其敵舐土兮、

他拉挈子亞伯蘭、及孫、即哈蘭子羅得、並子婦撒萊、即亞伯蘭妻、咸出迦勒底之吾珥、欲往迦南、至於哈蘭居焉、

故耶和華使亞述王之軍長來攻之、執瑪拿西、繫之以鏈、以鈎鈎之、攜至巴比倫、

人子歟、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、遣師以攻推羅、乃為大役、故皆髠首破肩、而王及軍旅、未得攻推羅之犒勞、

曰、此非大巴比倫、我以大能大力建為王都、彰我威榮乎、
