All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots— all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.

The good name of his whole family will depend on him. They will be like bowls and jars hanging on a peg.

And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father’s house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons.

They will give him great responsibility, and he will bring honor to even the lowliest members of his family.”

約瑟循法老命、以埃及之沃土、蘭塞境、賜父兄為業。約瑟供養父兄眷聚、視其應需而給之。○饑既甚矣、四方無糧、埃及迦南無不窮乏。埃及與迦南人、以金易粟、約瑟斂二地所有之金、儲於法老之庫。民間金盡、埃及人見約瑟曰、金盡矣、請予我食、否則斃於爾前、將若何。約瑟曰、金既盡、盍以畜易粟。民牽群畜就約瑟、約瑟以粟易其馬牛羊驢、是年因易其畜、給之以糧。○歲終、明年又至、曰、我主之前不敢隱、我金已盡、群畜悉歸吾主、我無所有、惟身與田。主何忍見我身死、而田不治、願以身及田易粟、我與吾田、為法老所得、第給我以種、田不至於荒蕪、命不至於死亡。饑甚矣、埃及人各鬻其田與法老、約瑟為法老購之。移埃及四境之民於城邑。惟祭司之田不售、蓋法老頒糧與祭司、祭司食其糈、故不鬻田。約瑟告民曰、今我為法老購爾及爾田、有種於此、播田可也。穡時、當五輸其一、以納法老、四分歸爾、為種以播田、亦為爾及爾眷聚所食。曰、爾援我命、願沾主恩、為法老僕。

上帝欲彰厥威、示其能、每恆忍包容諸可怒可毀之器、而以大榮示我儕蒙召者、
