For a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the Passover contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying,“ May the good Lord provide atonement for everyonewho prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.”And the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people.

And the children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.There had been no Passover kept in Israel like that since the days of Samuel the prophet; and none of the kings of Israel had kept such a Passover as Josiah kept, with the priests and the Levites, all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

So the runners passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, as far as Zebulun; but they laughed at them and mocked them.Nevertheless some from Asher, Manasseh, and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria; The planters shall plant and eat them as ordinary food.For there shall be a day When the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim,‘ Arise, and let us go up to Zion, To the Lord our God.’”For thus says the Lord:“ Sing with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim, give praise, and say,‘ O Lord, save Your people, The remnant of Israel!’Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there.They shall come with weeping, And with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.“ Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say,‘ He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’

These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, And those who complained will learn doctrine.”

They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the Lord They shall cry aloud from the sea.Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light, The name of the Lord God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea.

And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say:‘ return, backsliding Israel,’ says the Lord;‘ I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,’ says the Lord;‘ I will not remain angry forever.Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the Lord your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree, And you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the Lord.“ Return, O backsliding children,” says the Lord;“ for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

You also made a reservoir between the two walls For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago.

And the children of Israel said to the Lord,“ We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray.”So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.

“ In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.“ But I said:‘ How can I put you among the children And give you a pleasant land, A beautiful heritage of the hosts of nations?’“ And I said:‘ You shall call Me,“ My Father,” And not turn away from Me.’Surely, as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, So have you dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel,” says the Lord.A voice was heard on the desolate heights, Weeping and supplications of the children of Israel. For they have perverted their way; They have forgotten the Lord their God.“ Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.”“ Indeed we do come to You, For You are the Lord our God.Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, And from the multitude of mountains; Truly, in the Lord our God Is the salvation of Israel.

In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.

O Israel, return to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity;Take words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him,“ Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands,‘ You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”
