In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish:[ but] the harvest[ shall be] a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

though on the day you set them out, you make them grow, and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud, yet the harvest will be as nothing in the day of disease and incurable pain.

The plants might start to grow on the day you set them out. The vines might begin to bud on the morning you plant them. But even if they do, there won’t be any harvest. Instead, there will be sickness and pain that won’t go away.

though you make them grow on the day that you plant them, and make them blossom in the morning that you sow, yet the harvest will flee away in a day of grief and incurable pain.

They may sprout on the day you set them out; yes, they may blossom on the very morning you plant them, but you will never pick any grapes from them. Your only harvest will be a load of grief and unrelieved pain.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love[ to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as[ other] people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean[ things] in Assyria.They shall not offer wine[ offerings] to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices[ shall be] unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.

But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay[ even] the beloved[ fruit] of their womb.

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for[ it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon[ her] children.So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth[ are] the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast[ it] away; the branches thereof are made white.Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD’S ministers, mourn.The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree,[ even] all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
