“ I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty.

“ I will turn it into a place where nothing but owls can live. I will turn it into a swamp. I will sweep through it like a broom and destroy everything,” announces the Lord who rules over all.

“ And I will make it a possession of the hedgehog, and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord of hosts.

“ I will make Babylon a desolate place of owls, filled with swamps and marshes. I will sweep the land with the broom of destruction. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”

羣畜必躺於其間，平谷中各樣走獸必臥在那裏；叫梟和箭豬必住宿在柱頂上；鴟鴞必在窗戶內號鳴，烏鴉必在門檻間啼叫：香柏木都必敗壞露現。

躺在那裏的、只有住在曠野的猛獸；滿了他們房屋的、只有吼叫陰森的動物；鴕鳥住在那裏；野山羊在那裏跳躍。豺狼必在他們的衛所裏呼號；野狗必在豪華的宮殿中吼叫；其時候將近到了；其日期必不久延。

因此我必使災禍臨到耶羅波安的家，將以色列中屬耶羅波安的男丁、無論自主不自主、都剪滅掉，也必燒除耶羅波安的家，如同人燒除糞土、直到燒盡一樣。

叫梟箭豬卻要佔據它；貓頭鷹烏鴉必住於其間；永恆主必將「無定形」之準繩「混沌」之線鉈拉在它的顯貴人上頭。人必宣稱「那裏無王位」；其一切官長都沒有了。以東的宮堡必長棘荊，她的堡壘中必長蒺藜和刺草；它必做野狗的居所，做鴕鳥之出沒處。住曠野的猛獸必跟豺狼碰頭；野山羊和伴偶對叫；連夜怪物也必在那裏安身，自找安居的地方。在那裏小貓頭鷹必作窩，下蛋，菢蛋，生子，聚子於其蔭庇裏；啊，鷂鷹各與伴偶都聚集在那裏呢。

『因此曠野猛獸跟豺狼必住在那裏；鴕鳥也必住於其中；永不再有人住；世世代代終無人居。就如上帝傾覆所多瑪蛾摩拉與其鄰近城市一樣，永恆主發神諭說，必沒有人住在那裏，也無人寄居於其中。

有一位大有力量的天使舉起一塊石頭來、像大磨石、丟在海裏、說：『巴比倫大城也必這樣砰磅一下被丟下，決不能再看到了！彈絃琴、作樂、吹簫笛、吹號筒者、的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；各手工業各手藝人在你中間決不能再看到了；石磨的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；燈光決不能再照耀於你中間了；新郎新娘的聲音在你中間決不能再聽到了；因為你的商人曾經是地上的大人物；因為列國都曾在你的邪術中受了迷惑。』

『永恆主發神諭說：行毁滅的山哪，毁滅遍地的山哪，看哪，我跟你作對；我必伸手攻擊你，使你從巉巖上輥下去，成為燒燬了的山。人必不從你那裏取石頭為房角石，也不從你那裏取石頭做根基；因為你必永遠荒涼：永恆主發神諭說。

我必用量撒瑪利亞的準繩、和測亞哈家的線鉈拉在耶路撒冷之上；我必抹擦耶路撒冷，如同人抹擦盤子一樣；抹擦完了，就將正面倒轉過來。

另有一位第二位天使跟着說：『傾覆了，傾覆了，大巴比倫，那曾叫列國喝她猛烈淫亂之酒的！』

他用強有力的聲音喊着說：『大巴比倫傾覆了！傾覆了！成了鬼魔居住的所在，各樣污穢之靈的巢穴，各樣污穢可恨之鳥的巢穴了。

大海漲起，漫過巴比倫；她被喧囂洶湧的波浪淹沒了。她的城市變成了荒涼、乾旱草原之地，無人居住、全無人類經過。
