She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; there no nomads will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

No one will ever live in Babylon again. No one will live there for all time to come. Those who wander in the desert will never set up their tents there. Shepherds will never rest their flocks there.

昼夜总不熄灭，烟气永远上腾，必世世代代成为荒废，永永远远无人经过。鹈鹕、箭猪却要得为业；猫头鹰、乌鸦要住在其间。耶和华必将空虚的准绳，混沌的线铊，拉在其上。以东人要召贵胄来治国；那里却无一个，首领也都归于无有。以东的宫殿要长荆棘；保障要长蒺藜和刺草；要作野狗的住处，鸵鸟的居所。旷野的走兽要和豺狼相遇；野山羊要与伴偶对叫。夜间的怪物必在那里栖身，自找安歇之处。箭蛇要在那里做窝，下蛋，抱蛋，生子，聚子在其影下；鹞鹰各与伴偶聚集在那里。

耶和华说：“你这行毁灭的山哪，就是毁灭天下的山，我与你反对。我必向你伸手，将你从山岩滚下去，使你成为烧毁的山。

你们要听耶和华攻击巴比伦所说的谋略和他攻击迦勒底人之地所定的旨意。仇敌定要将他们群众微弱的拉去，定要使他们的居所荒凉。

耶和华说：“上去攻击米拉大翁之地，又攻击比割的居民。要追杀灭尽，照我一切所吩咐你的去行。

所以旷野的走兽和豺狼必住在那里，鸵鸟也住在其中，永无人烟，世世代代无人居住。”

又说：“耶和华啊，你曾论到这地方说：要剪除，甚至连人带牲畜没有在这里居住的，必永远荒凉。你念完了这书，就把一块石头拴在书上，扔在幼发拉底河中，说：‘巴比伦因耶和华所要降与他的灾祸，必如此沉下去，不再兴起，人民也必困乏。’”耶利米的话到此为止。

有一位大力的天使举起一块石头，好像大磨石，扔在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样猛力地被扔下去，决不能再见了。弹琴、作乐、吹笛、吹号的声音，在你中间决不能再听见；各行手艺人在你中间决不能再遇见；推磨的声音在你中间决不能再听见；灯光在你中间决不能再照耀；新郎和新妇的声音，在你中间决不能再听见。你的客商原来是地上的尊贵人；万国也被你的邪术迷惑了。”
