耶和華從天上把燃燒的硫磺降在所多瑪和蛾摩拉兩地，

說：「這宏偉的巴比倫豈不是我用大能建立為京都，以顯我的威嚴和榮耀嗎？」

遍地將是硫磺和鹽，無法耕種，寸草不生，如同耶和華盛怒之下毀滅的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪和洗扁。

那裡要像所多瑪、蛾摩拉及其周圍的村鎮一樣被毀滅，荒無人煙。這是耶和華說的。

巴比倫怎麼淪陷了！天下引以為傲的怎麼被攻佔了！巴比倫的下場讓列國恐懼！

上帝要毀滅巴比倫，像毀滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉及其周圍的城邑一樣，使那裡人煙絕跡。這是耶和華說的。

「明亮的晨星、黎明之子啊，你怎麼從天上墜落下來？你這打敗列國的怎麼被砍倒在地上？你曾想，『我要升到天上，把自己的寶座設在上帝的眾星之上；我要坐在遙遠的北方眾神明聚會的山上；我要升到雲天之上，使自己與至高者一樣。』可是，你必墜入陰間，掉進死亡的深坑。

「我在你們中間施行毀滅，如從前毀滅所多瑪和蛾摩拉一樣，使你們像從火裡抽出的一根柴。儘管如此，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。

王啊，你是萬王之王，天上的上帝已將國度、權柄、能力和尊榮賜給你，也將居住在各地的世人、走獸和飛禽都交在你手中，讓你管理。你就是那金頭。

他們必這樣譏笑巴比倫王：「暴君滅亡了！暴政結束了！耶和華折斷了邪惡君主的權杖。他曾狂怒地攻伐列邦，無休無止，怒氣沖沖地征服列國，大肆迫害。
