A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

Jesse’s family is like a tree that has been cut down. A new little tree will grow from its stump. From its roots a Branch will grow and produce fruit.

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit.

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

A shoot will grow out of Jesse’s root stock, a bud will sprout from his roots.

A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.

“ Look, the days are coming”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ when I will raise up a Righteous Branch for David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.

You are to tell him: This is what the LORD of Armies says: Here is a man whose name is Branch; he will branch out from his place and build the LORD’s temple.

After removing him, he raised up David as their king and testified about him,‘ I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart, who will carry out all my will.’“ From this man’s descendants, as he promised, God brought to Israel the Savior, Jesus.

Then one of the elders said to me,“ Do not weep. Look, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered so that he is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

“ Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your colleagues sitting before you; indeed, these men are a sign that I am about to bring my servant, the Branch.

He grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at him, no appearance that we should desire him.

“ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to attest these things to you for the churches. I am the Root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this.

In those days and at that time I will cause a Righteous Branch to sprout up for David, and he will administer justice and righteousness in the land.

And again, Isaiah says, The root of Jesse will appear, the one who rises to rule the Gentiles; the Gentiles will hope in him.

On that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of Israel’s survivors.

On that day the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will look to him for guidance, and his resting place will be glorious.

Saul said to him,“ Whose son are you, young man?”“ The son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem,” David answered.

This man was righteous and devout, looking forward to Israel’s consolation, and the Holy Spirit was on him.It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he saw the Lord’s Messiah.Guided by the Spirit, he entered the temple. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform for him what was customary under the law,Simeon took him up in his arms, praised God, and said,Now, Master, you can dismiss your servant in peace, as you promised.For my eyes have seen your salvation.You have prepared it in the presence of all peoples—a light for revelation to the Gentiles and glory to your people Israel.

The neighbor women said,“ A son has been born to Naomi,” and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
