从前你们有意要害我，但神有美好的意思在其中，为要成就今日的光景，使许多人的性命得以保全。

现在多国的民集合起来，攻击你，说：‘愿锡安被蹂躏，愿我们亲眼看见锡安遭报应。’”但是，他们却不知道耶和华的意念，也不明白他的谋略；他收集他们，好像把禾捆收集到禾场一样。

他照着神的定旨和预知被交了出去，你们就藉不法之徒的手，把他钉死了。

住在耶路撒冷的人和他们的官长，因为不认识基督，也不明白每逢安息日所读的先知的话，就把他定了罪，正好应验了先知的话。他们虽然找不出该死的罪状，还是要求彼拉多杀害他。他们把所记载一切关于他的事作成了，就把他从木头上取下来，放在坟墓里。但神却使他从死人中复活了。

你必定听过亚述列王向列国所行的，就是把她们完全毁灭，难道你还有救吗？我列祖所毁灭的国，有歌撒、哈兰、利色和在提．拉撒的伊甸人，这些国的神曾拯救她们吗？哈马的王、亚珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿和以瓦的王，现在都在哪里呢？”

你们要小心，免得希西家怂恿你们说：耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有哪一位曾拯救自己的国土脱离亚述王的手呢？哈马和亚珥拔的神在哪里呢？西法瓦音的神在哪里呢？他们曾拯救撒玛利亚脱离我的手吗？这些国所有的神中，有哪一个曾拯救自己的国土脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能拯救耶路撒冷脱离我的手吗？’”
