As one reaches into a nest, so my hand reached for the wealth of the nations; as people gather abandoned eggs, so I gathered all the countries; not one flapped a wing, or opened its mouth to chirp.’”

I’ve taken the wealth of the nations. It was as easy as reaching into a bird’s nest. I’ve gathered the riches of all these countries. It was as easy as gathering eggs that have been left in a nest. Not a single baby bird flapped its wings. Not one of them opened its mouth to chirp.’ ”

My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.”

I have robbed their nests of riches and gathered up kingdoms as a farmer gathers eggs. No one can even flap a wing against me or utter a peep of protest.”

雖財貨豐饒、弗以為樂。

爾雖高飛、譬諸神鷹、結巢於星間、我耶和華必俾爾下墜、

爾居山巖、險隘、危迫之地、心志倨傲、至於自迷、爾巢雖高、譬彼神鷹、我耶和華必使爾降為卑。

非義而求利、猶捕影而不得、適以取死。惡者強暴、不行仁義、致於滅亡。

強據宅第、多得土田、不遺隙地、推其意、幾欲獨攬遍境、深可疾也、

以法蓮為商賈、權衡不公、虐取人財為悅、自稱富有、以為所得之貨財、由於勤勞、未嘗蹈於罪戾、

維彼敵人、沉湎於酒者、廉恥道喪、居心粗浮者、遨遊遠方、貪欲無藝、若陰司暗府、無日充盈焉、彼使邦國、咸歸統轄、斯眾必作歌以譏刺、曰、他人之財、充積爾家、質當之物、盡歸爾身、久而不償、禍必不遠、困爾者勃興、撼爾者亟起、攘奪爾之所有、因爾刧掠邦國、不可勝數、殺人強據、害諸邑民、故其餘民、亦將取爾之所藏、爾貪不義之利、以富其家、營巢甚高、求免災害、禍必不遠、爾謀不軌、殲滅眾民、自取罪戾、貽羞家庭、壁中之石將呼、屋巔之梁將應、以訟爾罪、

驕泰者敗亡繼之、謙遜者尊榮被之。

敵擄金銀、財貨眾多、玩好之物、不可勝數、城邑空虛、變為荒土、人皆喪膽、兩股戰慄、腰骨殊痛、悚惶變色、今也牝獅之穴安在、穉獅之洞何存、昔者牝獅牡獅、俱游於斯、無人叱之、牡獅斷物、以子穉獅、牡獅攫物、以子牝獅、居處之穴中、所得之物充盈焉。我萬有之主耶和華、必攻斯邑、燬厥車騎、俱成烟燄、殺戮穉獅、不許得物於斯土、其聲名泯沒無聞。尼尼微邑惟嗜殺人、所行詭譎、強據攘奪、靡有厭足、今禍將及矣、
