耶和華說，你們為人要公義正直，要從欺壓者手中解救受剝削的人。不要欺凌、虐待異鄉人和孤兒寡婦，不可在這地方濫殺無辜。

世人啊，耶和華已經指示你們何為良善。祂向你們所要的是什麼呢？是要你們行公義，好憐憫，謙卑地與你們的上帝同行。

你們要為窮人和孤兒主持公道，為貧寒和受壓迫的人伸張正義。要救助窮苦的人，使他們脫離惡人的欺壓。

你的首領是叛逆之徒，與盜賊為伍，個個收受賄賂，貪圖好處，不為孤兒辯護，不替寡婦伸冤。

你要發言，秉公審判，為貧窮困苦者主持公道。

「萬軍之耶和華曾對你們的祖先說，『要秉公行義，彼此以慈愛和憐憫相待。不可欺壓寡婦、孤兒、寄居者和窮人，不可設陰謀彼此相害。』

難道你大肆使用香柏木就能顯出你做王的氣派嗎？你父親也吃也喝，但他秉公行義，所以他凡事順利；他為困苦和貧窮的人伸冤，所以他凡事順利。這才是真正認識我。這是耶和華說的。

世上所有遵守耶和華典章的謙卑人啊，要尋求耶和華，追求公義，為人謙卑。也許在耶和華發怒的日子，你們可以得到庇護。

你們所當做的是彼此說真話，在城門口秉公斷案，使人和睦。

王啊，請接受我的勸諫，你要秉公行義，以斷絕罪惡；憐憫窮人，以除掉罪過。這樣，你的國運也許可以延續。」
