所當獻者、彼獻於我、自食其胙、我耶和華不以為悅、必念其惡、而降以罰、彼將求援於埃及、

爾曹以色列族昔日違我、今當歸誠、

既夕、有老者自田耕作而歸、彼生於以法蓮山、旅於其庇亞、邑中之民則盡屬便雅憫族。見旅人於衢、遂問曰、爾往於何所、來自何方。曰、我旅以法蓮山麓、近往猶大、伯利恆邑、今自彼復歸以法蓮山麓、耶和華之室、無人接我於家。我與妾及僕、有餅及酒、驢有蒭蕘、無所缺乏。老者曰、安爾心、爾所缺乏、我為爾備、毋宿於衢。遂攜入室、以蒭蕘給驢、使人濯足、供其飲食。中心歡樂時、邑之匪類、環室叩門、謂家主曰、有丁男入爾室者、出之以遂我所欲。家主出謂之曰、斯人既宿我舍、請兄弟毋行斯惡、勿妄作為。我有處女、及客之妾、我俱出之、爾欲凌辱、任爾所為、惟與斯人勿加狎侮。眾不聽、客強出其妾、眾與淫合、永夕戲侮、待及黎明、始釋。黎明、妾至其夫所寓之室、仆於門外、東方遂明。其夫夙興、啟門而出、欲即遄征、見妾仆於門外、手在門閾、謂之曰、盍起偕往、妾無所答。乃置尸於驢、啟行而歸。既至其家、取刀剖妾、肢解其骨、分為十二、遣使遍告於以色列族四境。見之者曰、自以色列族出埃及以來、未見有若此者、自宜斟酌、如何以處。以色列會眾群集、自但至別是巴、與基列地之民、皆至米斯巴、咸懷一心、立於耶和華前。上帝民會、即以色列支派、及其族長咸至、核其軍旅計四十萬。其事為便雅憫族所聞。以色列族詢斯惡之原委。死妾之夫、利未人對曰、我與妾至便雅憫之其庇亞、止宿於彼、迨夕其庇亞人攻我、環繞於室、群欲殺我、遂辱我妾、致之於死。以色列族中、既有此惡俗穢行、故我剖妾之尸、遣使遍告於以色列族四境。惟爾有眾、在以色列族中斟酌、當如何以處。眾懷一心曰、我不歸故幕故家、惟掣籤攻其庇亞。在以色列支派中、百取十、千取百、萬取千、使備餱糧、待我儕至便雅憫之其庇亞、彼於以色列族中所作之穢行、我特報施焉。如此以色列族咸懷一心、集攻斯邑。遣人遍告於便雅憫支派、曰、爾中所行者何惡。今以其庇亞之匪類、付於我手、俾我戮之、而除以色列族中之惡。便雅憫族不從同儕以色列之言。乃集各邑之眾、至其庇亞、欲與以色列族戰。便雅憫族軍旅、計二萬六千人、其外有其庇亞簡練之卒、計七百。軍中有簡卒七百、惟用左手、較為便捷、能繫石於繩、飛擊敵眾、不爽毫釐。除便雅憫而外、以色列族之持兵善戰者、計四十萬。俱至伯特利、問於上帝、曰、我中誰可先攻便雅憫族。耶和華曰、猶大可先往。以色列族夙興、建營攻其庇亞。列陳於其庇亞前。欲與便雅憫族戰。便雅憫族自其庇亞出、戮以色列眾、計二萬二千人。

民既犯法違例、爽其永約、故斯土咸染污衊、
