看啊，耶和華要在火中降臨，祂的戰車好像旋風。祂要發烈怒，用火焰懲罰。

這是多麼可悲啊！人怎樣來，也要怎樣去，為風勞碌有什麼益處呢？

因此，到了收割和釀酒的季節，我要收走我的五穀和新酒，奪回我給她遮體的羊毛和麻布。

「與你們素不相識的民族必吃光你們土地的出產和勞碌所得，你們必常受欺壓，

你們要為自己種植公義，就能收穫慈愛。現在是尋求耶和華的時候，你們要犁開剛硬的心田，等祂來使公義如雨澆灌你們。可是，你們種的是邪惡，收的是不義，吃的是謊言的果實。因為你們倚靠自己的力量，仰仗眾多的勇士。

使它們在栽種的當天早上就生長開花，也必一無所獲。你們得到的只是艱難和無盡的痛苦。

每當他們撒種的時候，米甸人、亞瑪力人及東方人就前來進犯，在他們境內安營，摧毀他們遠至迦薩一帶的莊稼，不給他們留下任何糧食，也不留下一隻羊、一頭牛或驢。入侵者帶著牲畜和帳篷像蝗蟲一樣湧來，人和駱駝不計其數，摧毀了整個地區。以色列人因米甸人的入侵而極其貧乏，就呼求耶和華。

以色列王比加執政期間，亞述王提革拉·毗列色來犯，奪取了以雲、亞伯·伯·瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯和夏瑣，佔領了基列、加利利及拿弗他利全境，把那裡的居民擄往亞述。
