She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say,‘ I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now.’

She will still chase after her lovers. But she won’t catch them. She’ll look for them. But she won’t find them. Then she’ll say,‘ I’ll go back to my husband. That’s where I was at first. I was better off then than I am now.’

She shall pursue her lovers but not overtake them, and she shall seek them but shall not find them. Then she shall say,‘ I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better for me then than now.’

When she runs after her lovers, she won’t be able to catch them. She will search for them but not find them. Then she will think,‘ I might as well return to my husband, for I was better off with him than I am now.’

She will pursue her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will think,“ I will go back to my former husband, for then it was better for me than now.”

And she will pursue her lovers, but she will not reach them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say,‘ I will go back to my first husband, Because it was better for me then than now!’

他們沒有求問我，就起身下埃及去，在法老的保護下避難，投靠在埃及的蔭庇下。因此，法老的保護必成為他們的恥辱；投靠在埃及的蔭庇下，也必成為他們的羞愧。

還說：「不，我們要騎馬逃跑！」因此你們真的會逃跑；你們又說：「我們要騎飛快的馬！」因此追趕你們的人也會飛快。

你必從人間被趕出，你的住處必與田野的走獸在一起；你必像牛那樣吃牧草，讓七個時期從你流過，直到你明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰。」

禍哉！那些下埃及求幫助的人！他們依仗馬匹，依靠戰車眾多、馬兵強大，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不尋求耶和華。然而耶和華有智慧，他降下災禍，不收回自己的話；他起來攻擊作惡者的家，攻擊助紂為虐的人。埃及人不過是人，不是神；他們的馬不過是血肉，不是靈。耶和華一伸手，那幫助人的就會絆倒，受幫助的也會仆倒，他們都會一同滅絕。

我的靈魂哪，當歸回你的歇息之處，因為耶和華恩待你！

這是守望者們所宣告的裁決，是聖者們所宣布的決定，為要使活人明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰，甚至把最卑微的人立在一國之上。』

你必從人間被趕出，你的住處必與田野的走獸在一起；你必像牛那樣吃牧草，被天上的露水濕透，讓七個時期從你流過，直到你明白：至高者在人的國中掌權，他願意把國賜給誰就賜給誰。

可是他醒悟過來的時候，就說：『我父親那麼多的雇工都食物充足，我卻要在這裡餓死嗎？我要起來，到我父親那裡去，對他說：『父親，我對天犯了罪，也在你面前犯了罪。我再也不配稱為你的兒子，請把我當做你的一個雇工吧。』於是他起來往自己的父親那裡去。他離得還遠的時候，他父親就看到他，動了憐憫之心，跑上去摟住他的脖子親吻他。

他從世人中被趕出，他的心變得像獸的心一樣，他的住處與野驢在一起，他像牛那樣吃牧草，身體被天上的露水濕透，直到他明白：至高神在人的國中掌權，願意立誰就立誰治理國家。
