忽然有耶和華的天使在荊棘裡的火焰中向他顯現。摩西看見荊棘雖然在燃燒，卻沒有被燒毀。摩西想：「我要過去看這個奇異的景象，荊棘為什麼沒有被燒掉呢？」耶和華上帝見他要上前觀看，就從荊棘叢中呼喚他說：「摩西！摩西！」摩西說：「我在這裡。」上帝說：「別再靠近，脫下你腳上的鞋子，因為你所站的地方是聖地。」

然後，我們還活著的人要和他們一起被提到雲裡，在空中與主相會，永遠和主在一起。

雅各從巴旦·亞蘭回來後，上帝又向他顯現，賜福給他。上帝對他說：「你叫雅各，但從今以後不要再叫雅各了，你要改名叫以色列。」這樣雅各改名為以色列。

雅各說：「請你告訴我你的名字。」那人說：「你為什麼問我的名字？」他就在那裡給雅各祝福。

萬軍之耶和華說：「我要差遣我的使者為我開路。你們所尋求的主必突然來到祂的殿中。你們所期盼的那位立約的使者快要來了！」

當初，上帝向亞伯拉罕許下諾言的時候，因為沒有比自己更大的可以憑著起誓，就憑自己起誓說：「我必賜福給你，使你子孫眾多。」亞伯拉罕經過耐心的等待，得到了上帝的應許。人總是指著比自己更大的起誓，並用誓言作保證，了結各樣的爭論。同樣，上帝為要向承受應許的人顯明祂的旨意絕不更改，就用誓言向他們保證。上帝絕不說謊，祂將永不改變的應許和誓言給了我們，使我們這些尋找避難所、持定擺在前面之盼望的人可以大得鼓勵。

基督在世為人的時候，曾經聲淚俱下地祈求能救祂脫離死亡的上帝。祂因為敬虔而蒙了應允。

他禱告說：「耶和華，我祖父亞伯拉罕和我父親以撒的上帝啊！你吩咐我回到家鄉和親族那裡，答應厚待我。我不配蒙你以慈愛和信實相待，我先前過約旦河的時候，手上只有一根杖，現在卻有兩隊人丁家畜。求你救我脫離我哥哥以掃的手，我怕他會來殺我和我的妻兒。然而，你曾說，『我必厚待你，使你的後代多如海沙，不可勝數。』」

祂苦他們所苦，親自拯救他們。祂本著慈愛和憐憫救贖了他們，自古以來一直扶持、照顧他們。

祂將滄海變為乾地，讓百姓步行經過。讓我們因祂的作為而歡欣吧！

「過了四十年，在西奈山的曠野，上帝的天使在荊棘火焰中向摩西顯現。摩西見狀很驚奇，正要上前看個究竟，就聽見主說，『我是你祖先的上帝，是亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的上帝。』摩西戰戰兢兢，不敢觀看。主又說，『脫下你腳上的鞋子，因為你所站的地方是聖地。我已清楚看見我子民在埃及所受的苦難，也聽見了他們的哀歎，我下來要救他們。你來，我要派你回埃及。』「百姓曾拒絕這位摩西，說，『誰立你作我們的首領和審判官？』上帝卻藉著在荊棘中顯現的天使親自差遣他，立他為首領和拯救者。

他祝福約瑟說：「願我祖先亞伯拉罕和以撒敬拜的上帝，牧養我一生直到今天的上帝，
