My people are bent on turning away from me, and though they call out to the Most High, he shall not raise them up at all.

我的人民偏要背道離開我；故此他們被派去負軛，沒有人能給除去。

我民決志違離我、雖有召之向上、興者迄無一人、

我民心偏、專背我旨、先知呼民、歸我至上之主、崇我者迄無一人、

我民當歸誠於我、乃游移不定、我民當歸誠於我乃游移不定或作我民專心背叛我先知勸之歸至上之主、無一人奮興、

My people are determined to turn from me. Even though they call me God Most High, I will by no means exalt them.

My people have made up their minds to turn away from me. Even if they call me the Most High God, I will certainly not honor them.”

For my people are determined to desert me. They call me the Most High, but they don’t truly honor me.

My people are bent on turning from me. Though they call to him on high, he will not exalt them at all.

So My people are determined to turn from Me. Though they call them to the One on high, None at all exalts Him.

My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him.

And my people are bent on backsliding from me: though they call them to him that is on high, none at all will exalt him.

My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call to Him on high, He will not exalt them at all.

And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt[ him].

My people are obsessed with turning away from me; they call to Baal, but he will never exalt them!

My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.

Why then has this people turned away in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit; they refuse to return.

but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow.For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols.

The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.

The more they were called, the more they went away; they kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offerings to idols.

“ But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me.

I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.

For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel:“ Seek me and live;but do not seek Bethel, and do not enter into Gilgal or cross over to Beersheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into exile, and Bethel shall come to nothing.”Seek the Lord and live, lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, with none to quench it for Bethel,

They return, but not upward; they are like a treacherous bow; their princes shall fall by the sword because of the insolence of their tongue. This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah:“ Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the whore?And I thought,‘ After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.

“ Though our iniquities testify against us, act, O Lord, for your name’s sake; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.

And the Lord said to me,“ Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.

Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel.For the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the Passover in the second month—for they could not keep it at that time because the priests had not consecrated themselves in sufficient number, nor had the people assembled in Jerusalem—and the plan seemed right to the king and all the assembly.So they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, that the people should come and keep the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem, for they had not kept it as often as prescribed.So couriers went throughout all Israel and Judah with letters from the king and his princes, as the king had commanded, saying,“ O people of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may turn again to the remnant of you who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.Do not be like your fathers and your brothers, who were faithless to the Lord God of their fathers, so that he made them a desolation, as you see.Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever, and serve the Lord your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.For if you return to the Lord, your brothers and your children will find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.”So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun, but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them.However, some men of Asher, of Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Like a stubborn heifer, Israel is stubborn; can the Lord now feed them like a lamb in a broad pasture?
