The people who live in Samaria fear for the calf-idol of Beth Aven. Its people will mourn over it, and so will its idolatrous priests, those who had rejoiced over its splendor, because it is taken from them into exile.

The people who live in Samaria are filled with fear. They are afraid for their god that looks like a calf. They’re afraid it will be carried off from Beth Aven, that evil town. They will mourn over it. So will the priests who led them to worship it. The priests were full of joy because their statue was so glorious. But it will be captured and taken far away from them.

The inhabitants of Samaria tremble for the calf of Beth-aven. Its people mourn for it, and so do its idolatrous priests— those who rejoiced over it and over its glory— for it has departed from them.

撒瑪利亞啊！我要除掉你的牛犢，我的怒氣要向撒瑪利亞人發作，他們要到幾時才能無罪免罰呢？這牛犢是出於以色列，是匠人所做的，它並不是神，撒瑪利亞的牛犢必被粉碎。

她給孩子起名叫以迦博，說：“榮耀已經離開以色列了。”這是因為神的約櫃被搶去，又因為她的公公和丈夫都死了。她說：“榮耀已經離開了以色列，因為神的約櫃被搶去了。”

現在他們犯罪越來越多，為自己做鑄像，按著自己的技巧，用自己的銀子做偶像；這些都是匠人的手工。他們論到這些說：“向偶像獻祭的人，可以親吻牛犢。”

他們丟棄耶和華他們神的一切吩咐，為自己做了兩個牛犢的鑄像，又做亞舍拉，並且敬拜天上的萬象和服事巴力；

現在你們有意要反抗大衛子孫手下的耶和華的國；你們人數眾多，你們那裡也有金牛犢，就是耶羅波安為你們所做，當作神的。

耶羅波安為邱壇、公山羊神，以及他鑄造的牛犢，自己設立了祭司。

這樣，不只我們這一行要給人鄙視，就是大女神亞底米的廟也會給人撇棄，連全亞西亞和普天下所敬拜的女神也要垮臺，威榮盡都失掉了。”

只是耶戶沒有離棄尼八的兒子耶羅波安的罪，就是他使以色列人陷於罪中的那些罪，敬拜在伯特利和但的金牛犢。

那時，約書亞從耶利哥派人到伯特利東邊，靠近伯．亞文的艾城去，吩咐他們說：“你們上去窺探那地。”那些人就上去，窺探艾城。

“地上的商人也為她悲哀痛哭，因為沒有人再買他們的貨物：就是金、銀、寶石、珍珠；細麻布、紫色布、絲綢、朱紅色布；各樣香木，各樣象牙製品，各樣極貴重的木器、銅器、鐵器、大理石製品；肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香；酒、油、麵粉、麥子；牛、羊、馬、車、奴僕、人口。你所貪戀的果子離開你了！一切珍饈美味、華麗的美物，都從你那裡消失，再也找不到了！販賣這些貨物，藉著她發了財的商人，因為害怕她受的痛苦，就遠遠地站著，痛哭悲哀，說：‘有禍了！有禍了！這大城啊！就是一向穿著細麻布、紫色、朱紅色的衣服，佩戴著金子、寶石和珍珠裝飾的，一時之間，這麼大的財富竟蕩然無存！’“所有船長、旅客、水手，以及凡是靠海謀生的，都遠遠地站著。他們看見了焚燒她的煙，就喊叫說：‘有哪一座城能與這大城相比呢？’他們又把塵土撒在自己頭上，痛哭悲哀，喊著說：‘有禍了！有禍了！這大城啊！凡是有船航行海上的，都因這城的財寶發了財；一時之間她竟成了荒場！’

米迦回答：“你們把我所做的神像和我的祭司都帶走了，我還有甚麼呢？你們怎麼還問我：‘你作甚麼’呢？”

王打定了主意，就做了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：“以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在夠了。看哪，這是你們的神，就是從埃及地領你們上來的那位。”他就把一個牛犢安放在伯特利，一個安放在但。這事成了以色列人的罪，因為眾民都到但那個牛犢面前敬拜。耶羅波安在邱壇那裡建殿，把不是利未子孫的平民立為祭司。耶羅波安又定了八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，他自己在祭壇上獻祭，他在伯特利也是這樣向他所鑄造的牛犢獻祭；他又在伯特利為他所建造的邱壇設立祭司。

我必伸手攻擊猶大，攻擊耶路撒冷所有的居民。我必從這地方除掉巴力所餘下的，除掉拜偶像的祭司的名字，以及耶和華的祭司；
