The people who live in Samaria fear for the calf-idol of Beth Aven. Its people will mourn over it, and so will its idolatrous priests, those who had rejoiced over its splendor, because it is taken from them into exile.

The people who live in Samaria are filled with fear. They are afraid for their god that looks like a calf. They’re afraid it will be carried off from Beth Aven, that evil town. They will mourn over it. So will the priests who led them to worship it. The priests were full of joy because their statue was so glorious. But it will be captured and taken far away from them.

The inhabitants of Samaria tremble for the calf of Beth-aven. Its people mourn for it, and so do its idolatrous priests— those who rejoiced over it and over its glory— for it has departed from them.

以色列啊！你虽然行淫，犹大却不可犯罪，不要往吉甲去，不要上到伯．亚文，也不要指着永活的耶和华起誓。

撒玛利亚啊！我要除掉你的牛犊，我的怒气要向撒玛利亚人发作，他们要到几时才能无罪免罚呢？这牛犊是出于以色列，是匠人所做的，它并不是神，撒玛利亚的牛犊必被粉碎。

她给孩子起名叫以迦博，说：“荣耀已经离开以色列了。”这是因为神的约柜被抢去，又因为她的公公和丈夫都死了。她说：“荣耀已经离开了以色列，因为神的约柜被抢去了。”

现在他们犯罪越来越多，为自己做铸像，按着自己的技巧，用自己的银子做偶像；这些都是匠人的手工。他们论到这些说：“向偶像献祭的人，可以亲吻牛犊。”

他们丢弃耶和华他们神的一切吩咐，为自己做了两个牛犊的铸像，又做亚舍拉，并且敬拜天上的万象和服事巴力；

现在你们有意要反抗大卫子孙手下的耶和华的国；你们人数众多，你们那里也有金牛犊，就是耶罗波安为你们所做，当作神的。

耶罗波安为邱坛、公山羊神，以及他铸造的牛犊，自己设立了祭司。

这样，不只我们这一行要给人鄙视，就是大女神亚底米的庙也会给人撇弃，连全亚西亚和普天下所敬拜的女神也要垮台，威荣尽都失掉了。”

只是耶户没有离弃尼八的儿子耶罗波安的罪，就是他使以色列人陷于罪中的那些罪，敬拜在伯特利和但的金牛犊。

那时，约书亚从耶利哥派人到伯特利东边，靠近伯．亚文的艾城去，吩咐他们说：“你们上去窥探那地。”那些人就上去，窥探艾城。

“地上的商人也为她悲哀痛哭，因为没有人再买他们的货物：就是金、银、宝石、珍珠；细麻布、紫色布、丝绸、朱红色布；各样香木，各样象牙制品，各样极贵重的木器、铜器、铁器、大理石制品；肉桂、荳蔻、香料、香膏、乳香；酒、油、面粉、麦子；牛、羊、马、车、奴仆、人口。你所贪恋的果子离开你了！一切珍馐美味、华丽的美物，都从你那里消失，再也找不到了！贩卖这些货物，藉着她发了财的商人，因为害怕她受的痛苦，就远远地站着，痛哭悲哀，说：‘有祸了！有祸了！这大城啊！就是一向穿着细麻布、紫色、朱红色的衣服，佩戴着金子、宝石和珍珠装饰的，一时之间，这么大的财富竟荡然无存！’“所有船长、旅客、水手，以及凡是靠海谋生的，都远远地站着。他们看见了焚烧她的烟，就喊叫说：‘有哪一座城能与这大城相比呢？’他们又把尘土撒在自己头上，痛哭悲哀，喊着说：‘有祸了！有祸了！这大城啊！凡是有船航行海上的，都因这城的财宝发了财；一时之间她竟成了荒场！’

米迦回答：“你们把我所做的神像和我的祭司都带走了，我还有什么呢？你们怎么还问我：‘你作什么’呢？”

王打定了主意，就做了两个金牛犊，对众民说：“以色列人哪，你们上耶路撒冷去实在够了。看哪，这是你们的神，就是从埃及地领你们上来的那位。”他就把一个牛犊安放在伯特利，一个安放在但。这事成了以色列人的罪，因为众民都到但那个牛犊面前敬拜。耶罗波安在邱坛那里建殿，把不是利未子孙的平民立为祭司。耶罗波安又定了八月十五日为节期，像在犹大的节期一样，他自己在祭坛上献祭，他在伯特利也是这样向他所铸造的牛犊献祭；他又在伯特利为他所建造的邱坛设立祭司。

我必伸手攻击犹大，攻击耶路撒冷所有的居民。我必从这地方除掉巴力所余下的，除掉拜偶像的祭司的名字，以及耶和华的祭司；
