“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ These are the creatures which you may eat from all the animals that are on the earth.Whatever has a divided hoof, showing split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which have a divided hoof: the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.Likewise, the rock hyrax, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.The rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.And the pig, for though it has a divided hoof, and so it shows a split hoof, it does not chew cud; it is unclean to you.You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.‘ These you may eat, of whatever is in the water: everything that has fins and scales, in the water, in the seas, or in the rivers, you may eat.But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you,and they shall be detestable to you; you may not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.‘ Moreover, these you shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, and the buzzard,the red kite, the falcon in its kind,every raven in its kind,the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in its kind,the little owl, the cormorant, and the great owl,the white owl, the pelican, and the carrion vulture,the stork, the heron in its kinds, the hoopoe, and the bat.‘ All the winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you.Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects that walk on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to jump on the earth.These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, the devastating locust in its kinds, the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds.But all other winged insects which are four footed are detestable to you.‘ By these, moreover, you will be made unclean; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening,and whoever picks up any of their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.As for all the animals which have a divided hoof but do not show a split hoof, or do not chew the cud, they are unclean to you; whoever touches them becomes unclean.Also whatever walks on its paws, among all the creatures that walk on all fours, are unclean to you; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening,and the one who picks up their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening; whoever touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening.Also anything on which one of them may fall when they are dead becomes unclean, including any wooden article, or clothing, or a hide, or a sack— any article of which use is made— it shall be put in the water and be unclean until evening, then it becomes clean.As for any earthenware vessel into which one of them may fall, whatever is in it becomes unclean and you shall break the vessel.Any of the food which may be eaten, on which water comes, shall become unclean, and any liquid which may be drunk in every vessel shall become unclean.Moreover, everything on which part of their carcass may fall becomes unclean; an oven or a stove shall be smashed; they are unclean and shall continue as unclean to you.Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern collecting water shall be clean, though the one who touches their carcass shall be unclean.Now if a part of their carcass falls on any seed for sowing which is to be sown, it is clean.But if water is put on the seed and a part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.‘ Also if one of the animals dies which you have for food, the one who touches its carcass becomes unclean until evening.He, too, who eats some of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening, and the one who picks up its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.‘ Now every swarming thing that swarms on the earth is detestable, not to be eaten.Whatever crawls on its belly, and whatever walks on all fours, whatever has many feet, in regard to every swarming thing that swarms on the earth, you shall not eat them, because they are detestable.Do not make yourselves detestable through any of the swarming things that swarm; and you shall not make yourselves unclean with them so that you become unclean.For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, because I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; so you shall be holy, because I am holy.’ ”This is the law regarding the animal and the bird, and every living thing that moves in the waters and everything that swarms on the earth,to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the edible creature and the creature which is not to be eaten.

Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.

He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and the linen undergarments shall be next to his body, and he shall be wrapped about the waist with the linen sash and the linen turban wound around his forehead( these are holy garments). He shall bathe his body in water and put them on.

If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,“ Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!”( which all refer to things destined to perish with use)— in accordance with the commandments and teachings of man?

And all the elders of that city which is nearest to the person killed shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley;

But when evening approaches, he shall bathe himself with water, and at sundown he may reenter the camp.

Do not be misled by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

So we too, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elementary principles of the world.But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by animals, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth!”

regarding His plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.

by abolishing in His flesh the hostility, which is the Law composed of commandments expressed in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two one new person, in this way establishing peace;

And he shall bathe his body with water in a holy place and put on his clothes, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

And any person who eats an animal which dies or is torn by animals, whether he is a native or a stranger, shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and remain unclean until evening; then he will become clean.But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe his body, then he shall bear the responsibility for his guilt.”

The priest shall then wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward come into the camp; but the priest will be unclean until evening.The one who burns the heifer shall also wash his clothes in water and bathe his body in water, and will be unclean until evening.Now a man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer and put them outside the camp in a clean place, and the congregation of the sons of Israel shall keep them for water to remove impurity; it is purification from sin.And the one who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes and will be unclean until evening; and it shall be a permanent statute for the sons of Israel and for the stranger who resides among them.‘ The one who touches the dead body of any person will also be unclean for seven days.That one shall purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, and then he will be clean; but if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean.Anyone who touches a dead body, the body of a person who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Since the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he will be unclean; his uncleanness is still on him.‘ This is the law when a person dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent and everyone who is in the tent will be unclean for seven days.And every open container, which has no cover tied down on it, will be unclean.Also, anyone who in the open field touches one who has been killed with a sword or one who has died naturally, or touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.Then for the unclean person they shall take some of the ashes of the burnt purification from sin and running water shall be added to them in a container.And a clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the furnishings, on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone or the one who was killed or the one who died naturally, or the grave.Then the clean person shall sprinkle on the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he shall purify him, and he shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and will be clean by evening.‘ But the person who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord; the water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him, so he is unclean.So it shall be a permanent statute for them. And the one who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water for impurity will be unclean until evening.

For He did not subject to angels the world to come, about which we are speaking.

The one to be cleansed shall then wash his clothes and shave off all his hair, and bathe in water and be clean. And afterward he may enter the camp, but he shall stay outside his tent for seven days.Then it shall be on the seventh day that he shall shave off all his hair: he shall shave his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair. He shall then wash his clothes and bathe his body in water and be clean.

A voice came to him,“ Get up, Peter, kill and eat!”But Peter said,“ By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean.”Again a voice came to him a second time,“ What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.”

But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles, to which you want to be enslaved all over again?

and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they completely cleanse themselves; and there are many other things which they have received as traditions to firmly hold, such as the washing of cups, pitchers, and copper pots.)

“ You shall not eat any detestable thing.These are the animals that you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.And any animal that has a divided hoof and has its hoofs split in two, and chews the cud, among the animals, that animal you may eat.However, you are not to eat these among the ones that chew the cud, or among those that have the hoof divided in two: the camel, the rabbit, and the rock hyrax, for though they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are unclean to you.And the pig, because it has a divided hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and about the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.

Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.

Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet from it;when they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they do not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to the Lord.So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they do not die; and it shall be a permanent statute for them, for Aaron and his descendants throughout their generations.”

a person who touches any such thing shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy gifts unless he has bathed his body in water.

Now even the first covenant had regulations for divine worship and the earthly sanctuary.
