這樣看來，倘若藉着利未人的祭司職分能有完全勝任的資格（而人民之領受了律法倒是以這職分為基本），哪裏還需要另一種的一位祭司興起來、是照麥基洗德的等次、而不稱為照亞倫的等次呢？祭司的職分既有更改，律法也就必須有更改了。因為這些話所說到的那一位、原是屬於別的支派、其中並沒有一個人伺候過祭壇的。很顯然的、我們的主是從猶大支派升起來的；而論猶大支派、摩西並沒有講到祭司的事。既然照麥基洗德的樣子、有另一種的一位祭司興起來，那麼所說的就更顯然了。

給以色列人做記念物，叫那不是亞倫後裔的平常人不至於走近前來、在永恆主面前燒香，免得像可拉和他一黨的人那樣子：這是照永恆主由摩西經手所告訴以利亞撒的。

凡大祭司從人中間選取了出來、而被設立、替人辦理關於上帝的事，要替罪供獻禮物和祭物，

他們阻擋烏西雅王，對他說：『烏西雅啊，向永恆主燒香並不是你應作的事，乃是亞倫子孫作祭司者的事啊；他們才是受聖職來燒香的。你出聖所吧！因為你行了僭妄事了；並且永恆主上帝也不使你得尊榮。』烏西雅就很生氣；他原有香爐在手裏要燒香；他一向祭司生氣的時候，就在永恆主殿中香壇旁邊祭司們面前、他額上就患起痲瘋屬之病來了。

你們要守盡聖所的職守、和祭壇的職守，免得上帝的震怒再臨到以色列人。

因着信、亞伯供獻了祭物與上帝、比該隱所供獻的美好，就藉着信得了讚許的證言稱他為義；上帝對他的禮物作證了，因此他死了、還藉着信而說話。

以色列人對摩西說：『我們活不了啦，我們滅亡啦，都滅亡啦。凡走近永恆主帳幕的、都必須死。難道我們、我們這一切人、都要滅絕麼？』
