說一個新的，就已使先前的成為舊的了；並且那漸漸故舊而衰老的、就將近於滅沒了。

既说新约，就以前约为旧了；但那渐旧渐衰的，就必快归无有了。

既然上帝提到“新的约”，那么第一个约就成为旧的了；而那渐旧渐衰的必然很快消逝了。

夫既曰新約、則舊者之見廢明矣。蓋天下之事、陳舊而呈衰老之象者、其離死亡不遠矣。

By calling this covenant“ new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

God called this covenant“ new.” So he has done away with the first one. And what is out of date and has been done away with will soon disappear.

In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

When God speaks of a“ new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.

By saying a new covenant, he has declared that the first is obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old is about to pass away.

When He said,“ A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is about to disappear.

In that He says,“ A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.

By saying, a new covenant, He has declared that the first is old. And what is old and aging is about to disappear.

In that he saith, A new[ covenant], he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old[ is] ready to vanish away.

When he speaks of a new covenant, he makes the first obsolete. Now what is growing obsolete and aging is about to disappear.

In that he says,“ A new covenant”, he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.

這一來，一方面因規條之劣弱和無益，先前的條例就被廢掉（律法是未曾叫甚麼事完全及格的）；另一方面，一個較好的指望也就被引進了來，讓我們可以藉着這個來親近上帝。

所以人若在基督裏，他就是新創造的人：舊生活已經過去，新生活開始了！

故此基督做了一個新的約的中保，蒙召的人就可以得到所應許的永世基業；因為已經有了受死的事、來贖赦前約之下犯法的罪了。

這樣看來，倘若藉着利未人的祭司職分能有完全勝任的資格（而人民之領受了律法倒是以這職分為基本），哪裏還需要另一種的一位祭司興起來、是照麥基洗德的等次、而不稱為照亞倫的等次呢？祭司的職分既有更改，律法也就必須有更改了。

（那種帳幕原是表樣、象徵這現世時期的）；按這制度，所供獻的禮物和祭物都不能使禮拜的人良知上完全潔淨，只是關於飲食和幾樣不同的洗濯、不過是屬肉身的律例、制定着到改正時期為止罷了。

你們要向天舉目，觀看下地；因為天必像煙氣而消散，地必像衣服漸漸破舊；其居民必像蠓蟲死去；惟獨我的救恩永遠長存，我的義氣必不廢掉。

愛、永不廢墮；神言傳講的才能呢、必廢掉；捲舌頭說話呢、必止息；知識呢、必廢掉。

天地會過去，我的話斷不能過去。
