愛友乎、我雖言是、然深信爾行必愈乎此、而近乎救也、

我言此、望良朋、無若背教者、亦望爾得救、

所愛者乎、我雖如此言、猶信爾不至如此、亦信爾必得救、

Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case— the things that have to do with salvation.

Dear friends, we have to say these things. But we are sure of better things in your case. We are talking about the things that have to do with being saved.

Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things— things that belong to salvation.

Dear friends, even though we are talking this way, we really don’t believe it applies to you. We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation.

Even though we are speaking this way, dearly loved friends, in your case we are confident of things that are better and that pertain to salvation.

蓋人若曾蒙光照、曾味靈寵、曾受聖神、曾悟天主聖道之盡善盡美、與夫新興時代之偉大、而竟中途背棄聖道、若而人者、不啻親手重釘基督於十字架上、且當眾而辱之也。欲其再行悔過自新、尚可得乎？

迨其純全無缺、乃成永救之源、俾凡歸順之者、咸得被澤而獲濟焉。

主既以善工導爾於初、亦必有以成爾於終、以迨耶穌基督之日；此則予所深信不疑者也。且予對爾懷此感想、允非過情；蓋爾我神交心契、實為一體；故予之縲絏、亦即爾之縲絏；予之護道樹教、爾托主恩、亦與有功焉、

蓋天主普救之恩、已昌明於世、廣被有眾。吾人既受其教、自應痛絕邪妄之人欲。立身處世、寧靜淡泊、孳孳為善、翼翼事主、翹足企首、仰望真福、與夫大主宰及吾救主耶穌基督之光臨。基督為吾人自舍其身、正欲拯贖吾人、脫免一切罪惡、加以洗滌、俾得充其子民、發憤為善云耳。

蓋正當之憂戚、令人悔改、而蒙救恩；亦何悔之有？惟世俗之憂戚、乃致死耳。

凡信而受洗者得救、不信者遭譴。

『安貧樂道乃真福巍巍天國斯人屬。哀悼痛哭乃真福、斯人終當承溫燠。溫恭克己乃真福、大地應由彼嗣續。饑渴慕義乃真福、心期靡有不飫足。慈惠待人乃真福、自身必見慈惠渥。心地光明乃真福、主必賜以承顏樂。以和致和乃真福、天主之子名稱卓。為義受辱乃真福、天國已在彼掌握。爾等為予之故、而被人詬詈迫辱、多方誣衊者、斯為真福、是宜歡欣踴躍、灑然而樂。蓋爾之天爵大矣。前輩先知被人迫辱、亦猶是耳。

是故望我親愛之兄弟、對於拜像之事、切莫染指。

爾等不惟體恤囹圄中人、即自己產業之被劫奪、亦能逆來順受、且欣然自樂、固知另有盡善盡美、可大可久之嗣業在也。

蓋爾等信而有行、愛而能勞、仰望吾主耶穌基督、確乎不拔、故在天主聖父之前、時切馳思、不能自已、且知我天主寵愛之兄弟、確在蒙簡之列也。

若夫聖神之果、則為仁愛、神樂、安怡、忍耐、慈祥、良善、忠信、溫恭、克己、凡此種種非律法所能制裁也。

眾聞是語、悉皆默契而歸榮天主、曰：『由是觀之、天主普賜洪恩於異族、使由悔改而獲生命矣。』

在基督道中、受割與否、無關宏旨、亦惟興於仁而立於信而已矣。

何則、天主不負有心人、對於爾等之工作、爾等之敬愛聖名、供養聖徒、至今未懈、天主必不致忘懷也。
