For the ground that has soaked up the rain that frequently falls on it and yields useful vegetation for those who tend it receives a blessing from God.

蓋地既霑屢降之雨、而生百蔬、適耕者之用、則受祝於上帝、

譬如土壤、時雨潤之、百物生之、農夫利之、上帝培之、

譬諸地土、屢得雨潤而生百物、供耕者之用、則天主必降福於斯地、

譬如地土、甘霖時降、飽受滋潤、而產百穀、有益於耕耘之人、則天主福焉。

Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God.

Some land drinks the rain that falls on it. It produces a crop that is useful to those who farm the land. That land receives God’s blessing.

For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.

When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing.

For I will pour water on the parched ground and cause streams to flow on the dry land. I will pour my spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your children.

So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.

Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap unfailing love. Break up the unplowed ground for yourselves, for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers deliverance on you.

They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes.He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow.

Do not fear, my land! Rejoice and be glad, because the LORD has accomplished great things!Do not fear, wild animals! For the pastures of the wilderness are again green with grass. Indeed, the trees bear their fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield to their fullest.Citizens of Zion, rejoice! Be glad because of what the LORD your God has done! For he has given to you the early rains as vindication. He has sent to you the rains– both the early and the late rains as formerly.The threshing floors are full of grain; the vats overflow with fresh wine and olive oil.I will make up for the years that the‘ arbeh-locust consumed your crops– the yeleq-locust, the hasil-locust, and the gazam-locust– my great army that I sent against you.You will have plenty to eat, and your hunger will be fully satisfied; you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has acted wondrously in your behalf. My people will never again be put to shame.

You visit the earth and give it rain; you make it rich and fertile with overflowing streams full of water. You provide grain for them, for you prepare the earth to yield its crops.You saturate its furrows, and soak its plowed ground. With rain showers you soften its soil, and make its crops grow.You crown the year with your good blessings, and you leave abundance in your wake.The pastures in the wilderness glisten with moisture, and the hills are clothed with joy.The meadows are clothed with sheep, and the valleys are covered with grain. They shout joyfully, yes, they sing.

The LORD will greatly multiply your children, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil in the land which he promised your ancestors he would give you.The LORD will open for you his good treasure house, the heavens, to give you rain for the land in its season and to bless all you do; you will lend to many nations but you will not borrow from any.

The rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return, but instead water the earth and make it produce and yield crops, and provide seed for the planter and food for those who must eat.In the same way, the promise that I make does not return to me, having accomplished nothing. No, it is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.”Indeed you will go out with joy; you will be led along in peace; the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you, and all the trees in the field will clap their hands.Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes, firs will grow in place of nettles; they will be a monument to the LORD, a permanent reminder that will remain.

Such godly people are rewarded by the LORD, and vindicated by the God who delivers them.

So Jacob went over and kissed him. When Isaac caught the scent of his clothing, he blessed him, saying,“ Yes, my son smells like the scent of an open field which the LORD has blessed.

I will turn them and the regions around my hill into a blessing. I will make showers come down in their season; they will be showers that bring blessing.

The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag of seed, will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.

I will command my blessing for you in the sixth year so that it may yield the produce for three years,

“ Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my temple. Test me in this matter,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ to see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until there is no room for it all.
