For which ones heard and rebelled? Was it not all who came out of Egypt under Moses’ leadership?

那时，听见他话惹他发怒的是谁呢？岂不是跟着摩西从埃及出来的众人吗？

听见他而又背叛他的是谁呢？岂不是跟着摩西从埃及出来的众人吗？

听见祂的声音却又悖逆祂的是谁呢？不就是摩西从埃及领出来的那些人吗？

那时，听了他的话而惹他发怒的是谁呢？不就是摩西从埃及领出来的那些人吗？

到底是谁听见却悖逆了呢？难道不是被摩西从埃及带领出来的那一切人吗？

那時，聽見他話惹他發怒的是誰呢？豈不是跟着摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？

聽見他而又背叛他的是誰呢？豈不是跟着摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？

聽見他而又背叛他的是誰呢？豈不是跟着摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？

聽見祂的聲音卻又悖逆祂的是誰呢？不就是摩西從埃及領出來的那些人嗎？

那時，聽了他的話而惹他發怒的是誰呢？不就是摩西從埃及領出來的那些人嗎？

當時聽而惹他發怒的是誰呢？豈不是那些由摩西領導出埃及的眾人麼？

到底是誰聽見卻悖逆了呢？難道不是被摩西從埃及帶領出來的那一切人嗎？

其聞而激怒者誰耶、非從摩西出埃及之眾乎、

聽而抵觸者誰、非從摩西出埃及之眾乎、

其時聞而激怒者誰、非從摩西出伊及之眾乎、

夫當日聆天主之音、而忤天主之神者、誰耶？非隨摩西出埃及之眾人乎？

Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?

Who were those who heard and refused to obey? Weren’t they all the people Moses led out of Egypt?

For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses?

And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt?

For who heard and rebelled? Wasn’t it all who came out of Egypt under Moses?

For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?

For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?

For who, when they heard, did provoke? nay, did not all they that came out of Egypt by Moses?

For who heard and rebelled? Wasn’t it really all who came out of Egypt under Moses?

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

For who, when they heard, rebelled? Wasn’t it all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?

And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!

However, Joshua son of Nun, your assistant, will go. Encourage him, because he will enable Israel to inherit the land.

You will by no means enter into the land where I swore to settle you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Only my servant Caleb, because he had a different spirit and has followed me fully– I will bring him into the land where he had gone, and his descendants will possess it.

For the LORD had said of them,“ They will surely die in the wilderness.” And there was not left a single man of them, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Yet they continued to sin against him, and rebelled against the sovereign One in the desert.

So they said to one another,“ Let’s appoint a leader and return to Egypt.”

But what was the divine response to him?“ I have kept for myself seven thousand people who have not bent the knee to Baal.”So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

“ There your fathers tested me and tried me, and they saw my works for forty years.“ Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said,‘ Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.’

“ Not a single person of this evil generation will see the good land that I promised to give to your ancestors!The exception is Caleb son of Jephunneh; he will see it and I will give him and his descendants the territory on which he has walked, because he has wholeheartedly followed me.”

But Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among the men who went to investigate the land, lived.

I was forty years old when Moses, the LORD’s servant, sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy on the land and I brought back to him an honest report.My countrymen who accompanied me frightened the people, but I remained loyal to the LORD my God.That day Moses made this solemn promise:‘ Surely the land on which you walked will belong to you and your descendants permanently, for you remained loyal to the LORD your God.’So now, look, the LORD has preserved my life, just as he promised, these past forty-five years since the LORD spoke these words to Moses, during which Israel traveled through the wilderness. Now look, I am today eighty-five years old.Today I am still as strong as when Moses sent me out. I can fight and go about my daily activities with the same energy I had then.
