What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position“ a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now“ crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.

“ For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.

And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.”

Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,“ Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God,“ You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer.

My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people.He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.

Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.

And since every high priest is required to offer gifts and sacrifices, our High Priest must make an offering, too.

And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

“ The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel( which means‘ God is with us’).

And I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”

For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— the God of all our ancestors— who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him.

You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head.He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever.Your victory brings him great honor, and you have clothed him with splendor and majesty.

The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

The people said,“ Now we know you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham and the prophets died, but you say,‘ Anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!’

But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law.

Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself.

“ And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,

Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.

Jesus went on to say,“ I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!”
