因為那由天使宣講之道既這麼確定，以致一切犯法和不聽從的事都當受該受的報應，

要知道，那藉著天使所說的話既然是確定的，連一切過犯和悖逆都受到了應得的報應，

蓋由天使所言若果鞏固、凡干犯不順者、皆受義報、

浸假道藉天使以傳、言出惟行、使諸犯逆、無不遭應得之譴、況吾棄救道、如此之大者、豈能逭乎、

其藉天使所傳之道既確定、凡不順而逆者、皆遭應得之報、

夫以天神所傳之誡命尚且一成不變、有犯必懲；

For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

Even the message God spoke through angels had to be obeyed. Every time people broke the Law, they were punished. Every time they didn’t obey, they were punished.

For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,

For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,

For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;

For if the message spoken through angels was legally binding and every transgression and disobedience received a just punishment,

For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

You received the law by decrees given by angels, but you did not obey it.”

Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the descendant to whom the promise had been made. It was administered through angels by an intermediary.

Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

‘ Cursed is the one who refuses to keep the words of this law.’ Then all the people will say,‘ Amen!’

So do not throw away your confidence, because it has great reward.

The person who pays no attention to the priest currently serving the LORD your God there, or to the verdict– that person must die, so that you may purge evil from Israel.

He regarded abuse suffered for Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on the reward.

Now I desire to remind you( even though you have been fully informed of these facts once for all) that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, later destroyed those who did not believe.

you must bring to your city gates that man or woman who has done this wicked thing– that very man or woman– and you must stone that person to death.

“‘ But the person who acts defiantly, whether native-born or a resident foreigner, insults the LORD. That person must be cut off from among his people.Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, that person must be completely cut off. His iniquity will be on him.’”When the Israelites were in the wilderness they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community.They put him in custody, because there was no clear instruction about what should be done to him.Then the LORD said to Moses,“ The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone him with stones outside the camp.”So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD commanded Moses.

Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Suppose a man or woman is discovered among you– in one of your villages that the LORD your God is giving you– who sins before the Lord your God and breaks his covenant

and he said to them,“ Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel,‘ Each man fasten his sword on his side, and go back and forth from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and each one kill his brother, his friend, and his neighbor.’”The Levites did what Moses ordered, and that day about three thousand men of the people died.

So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.

Then Moses raised his hand, and struck the rock twice with his staff. And water came out abundantly. So the community drank, and their beasts drank too.Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you did not trust me enough to show me as holy before the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them.”

Now 14,700 people died in the plague, in addition to those who died in the event with Korah.

Then Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, each took his fire pan and put fire in it, set incense on it, and presented strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them to do.So fire went out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them so that they died before the LORD.

But while the meat was still between their teeth, before they chewed it, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.

You have witnessed what the LORD did at Baal Peor, how he eradicated from your midst everyone who followed Baal Peor.But you who remained faithful to the LORD your God are still alive to this very day, every one of you.

But God was not pleased with most of them, for they were cut down in the wilderness.These things happened as examples for us, so that we will not crave evil things as they did.So do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written,“ The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.”And let us not be immoral, as some of them were, and twenty- three thousand died in a single day.And let us not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by snakes.And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.

When he had finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open,and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with their households, and all Korah’s men, and all their goods.They and all that they had went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed over them. So they perished from among the community.All the Israelites who were around them fled at their cry, for they said,“ What if the earth swallows us too?”Then a fire went out from the LORD and devoured the 250 men who offered incense.

Say to them,‘ As I live, says the LORD, I will surely do to you just what you have spoken in my hearing.Your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness– all those of you who were numbered, according to your full number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me.You will by no means enter into the land where I swore to settle you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, and they will enjoy the land that you have despised.But as for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness,and your children will wander in the wilderness forty years and suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your dead bodies lie finished in the wilderness.According to the number of the days you have investigated this land, forty days– one day for a year– you will suffer for your iniquities, forty years, and you will know what it means to thwart me.I, the LORD, have said,“ I will surely do so to all this evil congregation that has gathered together against me. In this wilderness they will be finished, and there they will die!”’”The men whom Moses sent to investigate the land, who returned and made the whole community murmur against him by producing an evil report about the land,those men who produced the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets,

Those that died in the plague were 24,000.

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

“ Bring the one who cursed outside the camp, and all who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the whole congregation is to stone him to death.Moreover, you are to tell the Israelites,‘ If any man curses his God he will bear responsibility for his sin,and one who misuses the name of the LORD must surely be put to death. The whole congregation must surely stone him, whether he is a foreigner or a native citizen; when he misuses the Name he must be put to death.

God has countless chariots; they number in the thousands. The Lord comes from Sinai in holy splendor.
