Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.

而甘嘗垢辱、毅然肩負苦架。今則安坐天主寶位之右矣。爾等當細心體驗、耶穌當時如何忍受群小之拂逆、庶幾不致灰心而自餒。

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

He made it through these attacks by sinners. So think about him. Then you won’t get tired. You won’t lose hope.

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

So then, dear brothers and sisters, be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

I am also aware that you have persisted steadfastly, endured much for the sake of my name, and have not grown weary.

“ If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me first.If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.Remember what I told you,‘ A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed my word, they will obey yours too.But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. But they no longer have any excuse for their sin.The one who hates me hates my Father too.If I had not performed among them the miraculous deeds that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen the deeds and have hated both me and my Father.

keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,

Now because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began persecuting him.

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, we do not become discouraged.

However, fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Just look at the great things he has done for you!

But you, brothers and sisters, do not grow weary in doing what is right.

And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons?“ My son, do not scorn the Lord’s discipline or give up when he corrects you.

“ A disciple is not greater than his teacher, nor a slave greater than his master.It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house‘ Beelzebul,’ how much more will they defame the members of his household!

Then he placed his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.But the president of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd,“ There are six days on which work should be done! So come and be healed on those days, and not on the Sabbath day.”

“ Listen, Israel! Today you are moving forward to do battle with your enemies. Do not be fainthearted. Do not fear and tremble or be terrified because of them,

Now one Sabbath when Jesus went to dine at the house of a leader of the Pharisees, they were watching him closely.

Think about what I am saying and the Lord will give you understanding of all this.Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; such is my gospel,

They wanted to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowds, because the crowds regarded him as a prophet.

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said,“ By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble.But those who wait for the LORD’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

Then the Judeans responded,“ Now we know you’re possessed by a demon! Both Abraham and the prophets died, and yet you say,‘ If anyone obeys my teaching, he will never experience death.’

There was a lot of grumbling about him among the crowds. Some were saying,“ He is a good man,” but others,“ He deceives the common people.”

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Look at him, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

The sovereign LORD has given me the capacity to be his spokesman, so that I know how to help the weary. He wakes me up every morning; he makes me alert so I can listen attentively as disciples do.

But the Pharisees and the experts in the law were complaining,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

But when the Pharisees heard this they said,“ He does not cast out demons except by the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons!”

But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”He answered,“ I tell you, if they keep silent, the very stones will cry out!”

The Pharisees( who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed him.

“ Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat.”

But when the chief priests and the experts in the law saw the wonderful things he did and heard the children crying out in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignantand said to him,“ Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them,“ Yes. Have you never read,‘ Out of the mouths of children and nursing infants you have prepared praise for yourself’?”

So the Pharisees objected,“ You testify about yourself; your testimony is not true!”

If you faint in the day of trouble, your strength is small!

Then the experts in the law and the Pharisees began to think to themselves,“ Who is this man who is uttering blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

When Jesus had said this, one of the high priest’s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said,“ Is that the way you answer the high priest?”

Then the Pharisees went out and planned together to entrap him with his own words.

Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary,“ Listen carefully: This child is destined to be the cause of the falling and rising of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be rejected.

The Judeans replied,“ Aren’t we correct in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?”Jesus answered,“ I am not possessed by a demon, but I honor my Father– and yet you dishonor me.

When he went out from there, the experts in the law and the Pharisees began to oppose him bitterly, and to ask him hostile questions about many things,plotting against him, to catch him in something he might say.

But some of them said,“ By the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons, he casts out demons.”Others, to test him, began asking for a sign from heaven.

When they heard this, all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage.They got up, forced him out of the town, and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.

Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and asked him,“ We are not blind too, are we?”

Now a large crowd of Judeans learned that Jesus was there, and so they came not only because of him but also to see Lazarus whom he had raised from the dead.So the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus too,

The Jewish leaders picked up rocks again to stone him to death.Jesus said to them,“ I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?”The Jewish leaders replied,“ We are not going to stone you for a good deed but for blasphemy, because you, a man, are claiming to be God.”Jesus answered,“ Is it not written in your law,‘ I said, you are gods’?If those people to whom the word of God came were called‘ gods’( and the scripture cannot be broken),do you say about the one whom the Father set apart and sent into the world,‘ You are blaspheming,’ because I said,‘ I am the Son of God’?If I do not perform the deeds of my Father, do not believe me.But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.”Then they attempted again to seize him, but he escaped their clutches.

Many of them were saying,“ He is possessed by a demon and has lost his mind! Why do you listen to him?”
