fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;and He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed.

looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus,who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.

and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.

Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to come into His glory?”

who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.

“ And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

“ Now My soul has become troubled; and what am I to say?‘ Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour.Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven:“ I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

Jesus, knowing that the Father had handed all things over to Him, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God,

So then, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

in the future there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you.Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.

Therefore when he had left, Jesus* said,“ Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him;if God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Myself.”

And I will wait for the Lord who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob; I will wait eagerly for Him.

Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

And having been perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him,

seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

For David says of Him,‘ I saw the Lord continually before me, Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue was overjoyed; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!

Your father Abraham was overjoyed that he would see My day, and he saw it and rejoiced.”

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your faithfulness, Lord, is everlasting; Do not abandon the works of Your hands.

Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said,“ I do believe; help my unbelief!”

Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

The apostles said to the Lord,“ Increase our faith!”

Jesus spoke these things; and raising His eyes to heaven, He said,“ Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You,just as You gave Him authority over all mankind, so that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.I glorified You on the earth by accomplishing the work which You have given Me to do.

So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Then they spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others slapped Him,and said,“ Prophesy to us, You Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

And He said to them,“ Elijah does come first and he restores all things. And yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

And Herod, together with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, dressing Him in a brightly shining robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

And He was saying,“ Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.”

From that time Jesus began to point out to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised up on the third day.

I gave My back to those who strike Me, And My cheeks to those who pull out My beard; I did not hide My face from insults and spitting.For the Lord God helps Me, Therefore, I am not disgraced; Therefore, I have made My face like flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.

And the people stood by, watching. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying,“ He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.”The soldiers also ridiculed Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine,and saying,“ If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”Now there was also an inscription above Him,“ THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying,“ Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”

The next day he* saw Jesus coming to him, and* said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.You will make known to me the way of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

He says,“ It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the protected ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One, Says to the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.”

“ And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of pleading, so that they will look at Me whom they pierced; and they will mourn for Him, like one mourning for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, For He will bear their wrongdoings.Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the wrongdoers.

For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

and that He might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the hostility.

( for the Law made nothing perfect); on the other hand, there is the introduction of a better hope, through which we come near to God.

and others experienced mocking and flogging, and further, chains and imprisonment.

Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ— this Jesus whom you crucified.”

saying,“ Write on a scroll what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”

so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,who will also confirm you to the end, blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord says to my Lord:“ Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

You know my disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor; All my enemies are known to You.Disgrace has broken my heart, and I am so sick. And I waited for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

“ I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,“ who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying,“ Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,

But to which of the angels has He ever said,“ Sit at My right hand, Until I make Your enemies A footstool for Your feet”?

partly by being made a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming companions with those who were so treated.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

You have made him for a little while lower than angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor;You have put everything in subjection under his feet.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of His suffering death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings.

Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says,“ You have not desired sacrifice and offering, But You have prepared a body for Me;You have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.Then I said,‘ Behold, I have come( It is written of Me in the scroll of the book) To do Your will, O God.’ ”After saying above,“ Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them”( which are offered according to the Law),then He said,“ Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

But I am a worm and not a person, A disgrace of mankind and despised by the people.All who see me deride me; They sneer, they shake their heads, saying,“ Turn him over to the Lord; let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole Roman cohort to Him.And they stripped Him and put a red cloak on Him.And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and put a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”And they spit on Him, and took the reed and beat Him on the head.And after they had mocked Him, they took the cloak off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.As they were coming out, they found a man of Cyrene named Simon, whom they compelled to carry His cross.And when they came to a place called Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull,they gave Him wine mixed with bile to drink; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink it.And when they had crucified Him, they divided His garments among themselves by casting lots.And sitting down, they began to keep watch over Him there.And above His head they put up the charge against Him which read,“ THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”At that time two rebels* were being crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.And those passing by were speaking abusively to Him, shaking their heads,and saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying,“ He saved others; He cannot save Himself! He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him.He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He takes pleasure in Him; for He said,‘ I am the Son of God.’ ”And the rebels who had been crucified with Him were also insulting Him in the same way.Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying,“ Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is,“ My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said,“ This man is calling for Elijah.”And immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink.But the rest of them said,“ Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him.”And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit.

“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death,and they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and flog and crucify, and on the third day He will be raised up.”Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him.
