fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is the one who started this journey of faith. And he is the one who completes the journey of faith. He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy he was looking forward to. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.

and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name;that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Behooved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?

For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God,

Let us therefore go forth unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.

Now in the things which we are saying the chief point is this: We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil- doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.

He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.

When therefore he was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.

And I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah!

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; and he saw it, and was glad.

even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Jehovah will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, endureth for ever; Forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit.

From that time began Jesus to show unto his disciples, that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.For the Lord Jehovah will help me; therefore have I not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also scoffed at him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen.And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, offering him vinegar,and saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself.And there was also a superscription over him, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.And one of the malefactors that were hanged railed on him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.

On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall dwell in safety.For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption.Thou wilt show me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

yea, he saith, It is too light a thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first- born.

Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand.He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities.Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

and might reconcile them both in one body unto God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

( for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in thereupon of a better hope, through which we draw nigh unto God.

and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

Let all the house of Israel therefore know assuredly, that God hath made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom ye crucified.

saying, What thou seest, write in a book and send it to the seven churches: unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamum, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jehovah saith unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Thou knowest my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: Mine adversaries are all before thee.Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last,

But of which of the angels hath he said at any time, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet?

partly, being made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, becoming partakers with them that were so used.

For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.

Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownedst him with glory and honor, And didst set him over the works of thy hands:Thou didst put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he subjected all things unto him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to him.But we behold him who hath been made a little lower than the angels, even Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for every man.For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, But a body didst thou prepare for me;In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hadst no pleasure:Then said I, Lo, I am come( In the roll of the book it is written of me) To do thy will, O God.Saying above, Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein( the which are offered according to the law),then hath he said, Lo, I am come to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised of the people.All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,Commit thyself unto Jehovah; let him deliver him: Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.

He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him.He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God.And the robbers also that were crucified with him cast upon him the same reproach.Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?And some of them that stood there, when they heard it, said, This man calleth Elijah.And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.And the rest said, Let be; let us see whether Elijah cometh to save him.And Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.

Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and scribes; and they shall condemn him to death,and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify: and the third day he shall be raised up.Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, worshipping him, and asking a certain thing of him.
