號角之音、傳誡之聲、聞之者、請勿復言、

號角之音、傳語之聲、聞其聲者、求毋復與之言、

爾所聞者、亦非號角之聲、及令人不堪卒聞之音。當時若輩聞及、皆不寒而慄。

to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them,

You haven’t come to a blast from God’s trumpet. You haven’t come to a voice speaking to you. When people heard that voice long ago, they begged it not to say anything more to them.

and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them.

For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking.

This is what you requested from the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said,‘ Let us not continue to hear the voice of the LORD our God or see this great fire any longer, so that we will not die!’

Then the LORD spoke to you from the fire. You kept hearing the sound of the words, but didn’t see a form; there was only a voice.

Then God spoke all these words:I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.Do not have other gods besides me.Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commands.Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God, because the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who misuses his name.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy:You are to labor six days and do all your work,but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. You must not do any work— you, your son or daughter, your male or female servant, your livestock, or the resident alien who is within your city gates.For the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.Do not murder.Do not commit adultery.Do not steal.Do not give false testimony against your neighbor.Do not covet your neighbor’s house. Do not covet your neighbor’s wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.All the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the ram’s horn, and the mountain surrounded by smoke. When the people saw it they trembled and stood at a distance.“ You speak to us, and we will listen,” they said to Moses,“ but don’t let God speak to us, or we will die.”

You said,‘ Look, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and greatness, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that God speaks with a person, yet he still lives.But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us and we will die if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer.For who out of all humanity has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the fire, as we have, and lived?Go near and listen to everything the LORD our God says. Then you can tell us everything the LORD our God tells you; we will listen and obey.’

Has a people heard God’s voice speaking from the fire as you have, and lived?

in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then the LORD told Moses,“ This is what you are to say to the Israelites: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

He did not make this covenant with our ancestors, but with all of us who are alive here today.The LORD spoke to you face to face from the fire on the mountain.At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to report the word of the LORD to you, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and so that you may prosper in the land the LORD your God is giving you.Do not murder.Do not commit adultery.Do not steal.Do not give dishonest testimony against your neighbor.Do not covet your neighbor’s wife or desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.“ The LORD spoke these commands in a loud voice to your entire assembly from the fire, cloud, and total darkness on the mountain; he added nothing more. He wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud on the mountain, and a very loud blast from a ram’s horn, so that all the people in the camp shuddered.Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.Mount Sinai was completely enveloped in smoke because the LORD came down on it in fire. Its smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.As the sound of the ram’s horn grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him in the thunder.
