因為你們上了的並不是一個可摸觸的山：那裏有燒𤏲的火、與昏黑幽冥和旋風、

你們並不是來到了摸得著的山、燃燒著的火、陰雲、幽暗、風暴、

夫爾非至可捫火炎之山、及幽冥、昏暗、暴風、

爾所至者、非有形之山、在彼火焰靉靆、幽暗暴風、

爾所至者、非彼可捫之山、在彼有烈火、密雲、幽暗、暴風、

應知爾今所陟者、非一有形之山、其上有火焰靉靆、幽冥暴風。

You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm;

You haven’t come to a mountain that can be touched. You haven’t come to a mountain burning with fire. You haven’t come to darkness, gloom and storm.

For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest

You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.

For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm,

For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind,

For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,

For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

For you have not come to what could be touched, to a blazing fire, to darkness, gloom, and storm,

For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwind

You came near and stood under the mountain. The mountain burned with fire to the heart of the sky, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.

All the people perceived the thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.

Yahweh spoke these words to all your assembly on the mountain out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice. He added no more. He wrote them on two stone tablets, and gave them to me.When you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;and you said,“ Behold, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives.Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear Yahweh our God’s voice any more, then we shall die.For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?

The appearance of Yahweh’s glory was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self- control.

For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry,“ Abba! Father!”

For if the service of condemnation has glory, the service of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying,‘ Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.He said to the people,“ Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.All of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish.Let the priests also, who come near to Yahweh, sanctify themselves, lest Yahweh break out on them.”

For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.
