你們難道忘了那像勸勉兒子一樣勸勉你們的話嗎？「孩子啊，不可輕視主的管教，被祂責備的時候也不要灰心。因為主管教祂所愛的人，責罰祂收納的兒子。」

我們這短暫輕微的苦難正在為我們成就極大無比、永遠的榮耀。

但從天上來的智慧首先是純潔，然後是愛好和平、溫良柔順、充滿憐憫、多結善果、不存偏見、沒有虛偽。使人和睦的人撒下和平的種子，必收穫仁義的果實。

耶和華雖然重重地懲罰我，卻沒有置我於死地。

管教孩子宜早不宜晚，不可任由他走向滅亡。

我們的生身父親是按自己以為好的標準暫時管教我們，但上帝是為了我們的益處而管教我們，使我們可以在祂的聖潔上有份。

喜愛你律法的人常有平安，什麼也不能使他跌倒。

為此，即使現今你們必須暫時在百般試煉中忍受痛苦，也要滿懷喜樂。

背離正道，必遭嚴懲；厭惡責備，必致死亡。

公義必帶來平安，公義所結的果子是永遠的和平與安寧。

但聖靈所結的果子是仁愛、喜樂、和平、忍耐、恩慈、良善、信實、溫柔、節制。沒有律法會禁止這些事。

乾糧是給成年人吃的，他們的心思歷經鍛煉，能夠分辨善惡。

但你要棄絕世俗、荒誕的傳說，要訓練自己做個敬虔的人。鍛煉體魄益處還少，敬虔生活受益無窮，擁有今生和永世的應許。

我就會因他們的罪用杖懲罰他們，用鞭子責打他們。

因為上帝的國不是關乎吃什麼喝什麼，而是關乎公義、平安和聖靈所賜的喜樂。

他們眼中充滿淫慾，不停地犯罪，引誘那些信心不堅定的人。他們貪婪成性，實在是該受咒詛！
