Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us,

既有見證如雲、萬目睽睽、監臨左右、吾人尚可不以堅忍之志、奮赴前程、徹除一切障礙、解脫罪孽之羈絆、

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

A huge cloud of witnesses is all around us. So let us throw off everything that stands in our way. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. And let us keep on running the race marked out for us.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win.Every man who strives in the games exercises self- control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

“ So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.

holding up the word of life, that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.

that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death,if by any means I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.“ In a very little while, he who comes will come, and will not wait.But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.

You were running well! Who interfered with you that you should not obey the truth?

Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.For these things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.You also once walked in those, when you lived in them;but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.

rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer;

Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance;and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope:and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,

that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit,and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.Don’t grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won’t be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of perseverance, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.Let’s walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.

Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

to those who by perseverance in well- doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

But he who endures to the end will be saved.

You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees?But if we hope for that which we don’t see, we wait for it with patience.

That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.

Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

“ If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross, and come after me, can’t be my disciple.For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,saying,‘ This man began to build, and wasn’t able to finish.’Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.So therefore whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.

and in knowledge, self- control; and in self- control perseverance; and in perseverance godliness;

I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

He said to them,“ Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness.

But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I John, your brother and partner with you in the oppression, Kingdom, and perseverance in Christ Jesus, was on the isle that is called Patmos because of God’s Word and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me.He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me.

Through Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I consider him, I have written to you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.

When Jesus heard these things, he said to him,“ You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said,“ How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

For by this, the elders obtained testimony.By faith, we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible.By faith, Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he had testimony given to him that he was righteous, God testifying with respect to his gifts; and through it he, being dead, still speaks.By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God.Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.By faith, Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.By faith, Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.By faith, Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,choosing rather to share ill treatment with God’s people than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time,considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.By faith, he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.By faith, they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been encircled for seven days.By faith, Rahab the prostitute didn’t perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.What more shall I say? For the time would fail me if I told of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets,who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.They were stoned. They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword. They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill- treated—of whom the world was not worthy— wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.

“ Who are these who fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified,“ He told me everything that I did.”

I was also blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity.

You will come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land. It will happen in the latter days, that I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I am sanctified in you, Gog, before their eyes.”

He said to another,“ Follow me!” But he said,“ Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”But Jesus said to him,“ Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce God’s Kingdom.”Another also said,“ I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good- bye to those who are at my house.”But Jesus said to him,“ No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom.”

You will ascend. You will come like a storm. You will be like a cloud to cover the land, you, and all your hordes, and many peoples with you.”

For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
